If there is one thing I've learned in my very early young professional career it's that cheating (via spouses & work credit) is far more rampant in the professional real world, than college. That is a fact.

I cheated, but I knew we were breaking up soon. All the signs where there and it was going to be ugly. I felt like she was probably cheating too, so what the hell?

It was totally worth it. Now, I've been monogamous for over 20 years, so I don't think it had any last affects on my trustworthiness or ability to eat the same cereal everyday.

Do you have any facts or data to back this up, or is this just another typical Tangerine thread where you fling shite at the wall in hopes that some of it sticks and attracts flies?

And secondly, simply read the comments in this thread that condone said cheating.

Please elaborate. I never cheated in college.. Well, I never looked at someone else's test, in the middle of taking a test, cheated. Ive come across a copy of a test a few times.. And one of those times it sort of backfired. A guy in my class was banging this chick who worked in a department in which she had access to test. Well the instructor had a different test for each class and the copy the girl got was the wrong one..

I had an A in the class and I could have scored a high B on the exam and would have still finished with an A. I didn't study for the final, looked over the copy of the exam before the exam, the copy our class was given wasn't even close to the copy we had, I made a low B on the final and finished with a B.

A few friends of mine, who had a class together, somehow come up with a system to cheat on a final exam and got caught. It was their first semester in college, I am not sure if it was a scare tactic, but they were really close to getting kicked out of school. Its up to the professor to report someone cheating and that's what happened to them. They had to write a letter, go appear in front of some board, etc.

I never really witnessed any cheating at UNO. Now dental school...those were some cheating mother frickers Couldn't believe the level of cheating that went on there - especially since it was a large group of pretty smart people.

I only cheated in one class in undergrad (never in grad school). It wasn't even a difficult class, our our cheating method was to save time.

I was in CHEM1202, can't remember the proffesor, but basically the whole class was out of 50 points, and we had 4 tests worth 10 points and the rest was homework, worth 1 point a piece (but you could get like 1.5/2 points) so all you needed to do was your homework and get an 80 on your test to get a 100% in the class.

Anyway, each test had ten questions multiple choice. Me and a few others guys would each pick a test to study for (Person A got 1, B got 2, C got 3, D got 4). The person who studied would take the test then save the answers in his TI-84, and pass it down the line.

The few times I made an effort to find a copy of an exam was for the reason you mentioned "to save time". Its not that I didn't know the material, its just that I would have had to go back and review all the material for the final and because I felt that I needed to put more time into another class, I would "prioritize" in terms of what class I needed to study for more, etc.

Other than that, I never even considered cheating in college. HS was a different story, but in college I actually learned the material.

I'm not surprised that dental students cheat at all. They continue cheating upon graduation. Nasty cheating bunch.

Sometimes during finals in order to have time to study for other harder classes my friends and I would assign each other a chapter to study (instead of having to study all the chapters yourself).

It's definitely a gamble, but out of the handful of times we've done it we executed perfectly and got A's each time. Everyone did their part and studied their given chapter. The tests usually always have the same questions on it, but they're simply in a different order.

ETA: I think it's hilarious when students who never wear hats will wear hats only on test days

No argument here. I've said many times on here that there are a lot of crappy dentists around whose only motivation is money. There are only a handful of dentists I know that I fully trust.

My roommate was a student memober on a disciplinary board for some guy they caught cheating. He was a foreign student from some third world dictatorship. He pleaded with them not to be kicked out because if he got sent home in disgrace he would be imprisoned and maybe killed. They sent him home anyway.

Is working on homework as a group and sharing answers and solutions cheating?

I never cheated on exams. I discovered pretty early on that if I don't have a clue for the answer then the guy next to me is just as lost.

Been saying this for awhile. It's startling how many people are on this stuff during finals and midterms.

My initial thought was that I never cheated on anything in college. Then, I remembered my freshman year at LSU in a Chemistry class. The professor would talk for an hour and give chapters to read for homework but the tests rarely had much to do with either. I had a D average after the first two exams.

I asked a friend from high school how she studied for the exams. She said that the professor was known for rotating three old exams for each current exam and that her sorority gave her the relevant exams. She gave them to me and I immediately began making A's. I wasn't learning the material but spent enough time to simply learn the answers.

Would you consider this cheating? Feel free to use up votes (if not cheating) and down votes (if cheating).

I never did it, had a few chances where professors just left the class during an exam but I wasn't sure if it was worth the risk. That being said, I don't really care if others did. I don't see what the big deal is

I never cheated in college.

In grad school, in fact, when we found out one of our friends had cheated on his doctoral comps, we told on him and he was expelled. If I have to do the work, they have to do the work.

But my experience has been that a-hole teachers pretty much create a climate where their students cheat because they don't respect them. The fact that the teacher is an a-hole doesn't make cheating okay, mind you, just that it fosters a climate in which students don't mind doing it.

Also, as a prof myself, I see a ton of students coming to school who aren't really equipped with the student/intellectual skills needed to succeed. They fall behind, get in over their head, and make very poor choices. Again, it's their fault for not seeking help or withdrawing, but that's where a lot of this behavior comes from. Faculty can help stop it before it gets started by recognizing the problem and trying to help before it goes too far.

You snitched? What a fig. I would've beat your arse if you did something like that to me to get me kicked out of school. Especially a doctorate program.
