Just cause you can’t find it doesn’t mean it sucks. Downtown sucks because the mayor actively went to war against it to destroy a political opponent. Tigerland “sucks” because you’re too old to enjoy it. There’s plenty of great bars scattered around town, they’re just not all in one strip.

The problem for baton rouge and its nightlife has always been transportation.

Nothing is centralized and all it does is encourage drunk driving.

Scattered is the key word Which makes it so shitty. Go to any fun college town where you can walk around to different bars and shops. Ofcourse people after college are too old for college bars but that is not the argument you moron.

Because I can get on an app and swipe to meet poontang while sitting in my wifebeater and boxers on my sofa with the empty pizza boxes and natty light cans everywhere and it takes the work out of getting cleaned up to go out and approach young ladies at bars. Also saves me a ton of money on buying drinks for girls in bars that don’t lead to be getting any poon at the end of the night. I’ve wasted tens of thousands of dollars “going out”

Dating apps changed the game. Saved guys tons of money in the long run. Gives us more bang for our buck. People don’t dance anymore anyway.

The Perkins area bars are garbage too.

It tries so hard to be hipster and trendy and it all sucks at the same time

To be honest, I’ve traveled to large cities all over the country and night life in Houston/Chicago/LA/New York isn’t even close what it was 20 years ago either.
BR has essentially no night life, but compared to 20 years ago I’d say nowhere does.

Cause it’s so spread out
They need to have a row of bars like Austin

That’s because people don’t have to have set meeting places to meet up. Smartphones and dating apps mean people coordinate where they’re going to go right before they go out, go out less, or often don’t get out much at all.

There used to be about 4-5 places to drink at the North gates near chimes.

Up to like 2019 I would go from the stadium to that area after games. You have chimes, varsity, slinkys, and there was some place that changed names several times and a place that took over reginellis.

Yea I don't get the OP's sentiment. I'm in 40s now and don't go out till 2am or anything anymore.
But I like the Overpass bars, Bulldog, CJs daqs/dive, The Ice House, Mid City Beer Garden, and the new breweries around town on the outskirts.

Supposedly, the city parish passed an ordinance that bars could only be opened in the place of old bars.. No new locations. That is when it. Started to die.

This is correct.
It was also during this time that Mothers Against Drunk Driving were building power. Also Batoon Rouge has always been a conservative town. Grandpa told me that before 1970 a guy couldn't do shite in town.

Don’t be sad. I enjoy a very nice life in Lafayette. Grew up and went to school in BR so I’m familiar with the very little it has to offer outside of LSU.

Kip Holden had downtown built up pretty well, it was taking off.

Broom has completely crushed downtown.

Downtown under Kip was actually looking up, but under Broome stick, it’s been terrible.

It can't be stressed enough how badly Broome has screwed up Baton Rouge. She has single-handedly killed the downtown bar scene.

That works the other way around too… they’re swiping so that they’ll never have to go to the bars and meet you. There’s always a taller, richer dude out there

Young people are having less sex now than previous generations. Killing it with all of those virtual girlfriends

Best bet is overpass area.

For blow. Not for drinking.

But what constitutes a good bar scene? Available women? Quality Drinks? Most available women don’t want a nice cocktail place, because they can’t afford it.
