Cause it’s funner across the basin. When I was in college, everyone from BR came to Lafayette for the bar scene.
We went to college in very different times, my friend.
If anyone ever said “hey let’s go get drunk in Lafayette!” I would have laughed them out the room.
In fact, I remember when the bar Punchers opened downtown. Went there for 10 minutes, looked around, and thought “what the frick is all this Lafayette trash?” Never went back.

Probably because it’s extremely dangerous everywhere you go

I’m mid 30s and it’s the only area of town I’ll go if I’m not going to a specific spot. Otherwise, I pick a place and stay until it’s Uber time

Tell me you went to nitetown without telling me you went to nitetown/ JSP.
Honestly, most places then were pretty bad about shitbags like that. The local dive bars were never as bad as the downtown establishments.
The keg would have had a pretty good showing of slutty Halloween costumes tonight back then…
Give me a legends Hawaiian wrap and a good game.

You don’t need to go to ten different bars in a night. Just pick one and stay there

Lol when I was in college 06-10, I went to laffy once and there were so many douche bags with Ed hardy shirts, I never went back. Laffy is the toilet of actual Louisiana cities. It sucks that the city is so terrible bc there are some great restaurants.
Lafayette is leaps and bounds ahead of BR. Sorry the Ed Hardy bros stole your girlfriend.

Downtown under Kip was actually looking up, but under Broome stick, it’s been terrible.
Yeah Kip was trying to revive that whole area. Most places downtown had most of their business come from state workers and their busiest time was when session was in, so that meant business slacked off after 6 or 7PM and not much on weekends and every holiday they got off. He was able to get hotels people would want to stay at all year long, live after 5, and to make it attractive to young professionals to move in that area.
It was all going up and when SWB took over it was like it hit a brick wall. She is a fricking moron. I understand why her and Kip do not see eye to eye.

Third Street was starting to create a great scene around 2008 or so. They killed it by enforcing the open container law too strictly.

We went to the keg. And it was douche as hell.
While I’ll drive in for a show occasionally (most recently bert kriescher) or to eat at a place, I literally go then leave. Would never stay the night. Outside of a few people I knew in college that for whatever reason loved laffy (and trashy) that eventually transferred there, no one left tigerland to go to laffy.

This cat!
Well, to be fair I don't know how it is, but when I was in college in the early 2000s, Lafayette was a place you went maybe once a semester because you had friends going to school at UL and living Lafayette, but it wasn't anything special.

Is The Station still a thing?
I remember from around 1999-2006 it was very popular.

BR bar scene was pretty decent in the late 90s/early 00s. Station, Triple A, Southdowns, Caterie etc. No clue what it's like now though.
