I hate alcohol

Seen it ruin many lives, take them and was the fuel to a dark and violent part of my childhood.

But I dont think it should be illegal.

Definitely happened in Co and Washington, the two earliest adopters.
Again, is that an increase in overall homeless, or just a shift in where the existing homeless were because they know about lax enforcement?

I'm 100% for legalization. But I'm also 100% for zoning and other community standards that prohibit public intoxication and the like.

I'm not. It helps investors, not necessarily people who need homes.

I hate zoning practices that maximize property values, prefer a much more organic approach to development. We have laws on the books regarding camping on city streets and public drunkenness, just enforce the laws we have.

Growing up in New Orleans, was a long time before I knew it was illegal to get shitfaced in public in other cities and walk around with a bottle or etc.

That stuff has never bothered me. A free man should be able to walk down the street drinking or smoking if they choose.

I think we're saying the same thing. I want public intoxication laws to be enforced by LEO. When you take those laws (and/or their enforcement) away, you end up with intoxicated people coming to those areas. That is not the same thing as creating new intoxicated people.

or clarification, if you quit heroin, cold turkey, and are not in a medically-managed situation, you could suffer a range of symptoms including severe dehydration, nausea, vomiting that could end up with you in a life-threatening situation. It is not all that different from the rare life-threatening situation that withdrawal from alcohol dependence does.

You really are walking your comment back pretty hard. Oh yeah you vomit. Which could dehydrate you. Which you could die from. Give me a break.

You don’t directly die from cold Turkey withdrawal from opiates. Period.

Do you feel like shite? 100% yes.

The only drugs that can kill you from directly quitting with no tapering or intervention are the three B’s

Benzodiazepines
Barbiturates
And Booze

Show me a doctor who is more concerned with someone withdrawing from Opiates rather than someone withdrawing from alcohol and I’ll gladly burn my M.D.

What’s sad is that those are also the symptoms of fibromyalgia and a lot of doctors don’t know. Every time my cousin has a fibromyalgia flare up he has symptoms like that and he has to go to like 8 doctors just to get his medicine refilled. It’s so sad the damage the opioid crisis has done to the medical system

Why is alcohol legal?
Why are greasy, artery-blocking foods legal? Why are cars built to go faster than the highest speed limit? Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?

I went to rehab when I was 20 years old and thought they were going to give me Ativan for the first 3-5 days to get through my opioid withdrawals because my roommate was getting it. But turns out, he was drinking a shite load of vodka and beer everyday. The guy came into the facility in a wheelchair because the alcohol had ravaged his body so bad. After drying out for about 10 days, he looked like a completely different person.

That experience of seeing the alcoholics come into that place in such bad shape really opened my eyes to how bad alcohol is on your body. Those dudes would come in at the edge of death then be totally different two weeks later. It was insane.

Drinking got me bad sick. I dropped to 106 lbs in November of 21, and then stopped cold Turkey. Haven’t touched
It since and I have gained over 90 lbs since then. Feel great and everybody close to me actually love me now.. it’s quite the change and it can be done….
