It has a different effect on each person. If you are ADD it calms you down. If not, it's just speed.
Hell most people say pain pills make them tired but if I take Percocet I'm bouncing off the walls and won't shut up

This is really what's hard to get people to understand. There are so many small, peripheral, insignificant-to-most-people stimuli going on all around us constantly. A normally wired person can choose where to place their attention and go about their way. Some people may have a little more difficulty with this, but can generally control impulses well enough to overcome distractions. The ADD/ADHD person cannot choose what to process or when to do it. They are literally being overstimulated as their brain attempts to reconcile EVERYTHING around them (along with thoughts in their own head that have zero to do with their current surroundings).
They cannot "try harder" any more than one can try to quit breathing for 5 minutes. Give it a shot. I bet if you try hard enough, you can voluntarily starve yourself of oxygen. ADD/ADHD is involuntary. If you aren't wired that way, you won't get it.

I as in YOU did. Perhaps you didn't have a substantial chemical imbalance in your brain? Did you have a serotonin deficiency? The most mentally strong person in the world can be knocked to their knees, live in a world of shite for a long period of time and never truly quite get back to where they were without being leveled off for a little while. Self help, gaining knowledge and awareness, meditation, physical activity, putting things a proper perspective, eliminating the bad influences and risks in your life, positive thinking, all great tools to have in the toolbox and should be practiced daily by everyone that is striving to become a better version of there self. But you are woefully and completely ignorant if you feel that is the only way and cant accept that anyone could and does need help chemically for some time. Not everyone is you and YOU haven't been through some of the shite that others have.

y'all are all just mentally weak.. I went through this
You haven't been through shite. Im not even prescribed Adderall at all, but I do have a dog in this fight. You have no understanding of what mental illness is and perhaps a practice in humility could help you not be such a prick.

Yep, but I was able to drive from 10am to 6am, no issues. Then couldn't sleep for another day.
I can't see how people pop them.

I'm pretty lazy myself. I must say that when I take my adderall I am way more inclined to do things. I'm fidgeting and shaking my leg a lot so it makes me want to move. I can spot clean my room in 30 mins lol. It's great. I am about 80% more productive at work as well. It just makes me a little less social.

This means you don't need it, but I assume you know that.

Same thing, you're definitely not ADD/ADHD.

Me either. Only thing I can imagine that compares to it is when I've taken pseudoephedrine. I can't stand what that does to me, so I couldn't see why people would want to "pop" these.

I think what really pisses me off about the ADD thing, is that people who don't oh look a bird sitting on a stop sign. Need it abuse the frick out of it. A lot of parents do YELLOW STREET DIVIDERS ARE frickING CROOKED a half assed job of raising their children overcast clouds and then just pill them up and send them on their napoleon way

Understand, I'm not disagreeing about the over-diagnosis. It's certainly there. There are a number of folks in this thread talking about the effects that these drugs give them that indicates they, too, are in that category of abuse.
That said, it doesn't mean that there are not those who are dealing with something that they cannot consciously choose to change. While your post is "cute", it's not entirely accurate as to how those people register things.
And btw, I'm very reluctant to give my child a pill for much of anything. We have worked very hard to find some balance for our oldest child without stimulants. And believe me, lack of discipline is NOT the issue with ours (and I concur with you that it IS the issue for many). My in-laws thought all he needed when he was younger was a good arse whippin'. They learned pretty quickly that had little to no effect on him and the methods employed by their parents were useless. They will be the first to tell you now that, while they don't fully understand it, there is something different about the way his brain works.

I know, I was just dicking around... Look, don't get me wrong, there are people who actually do need it and benefit from it. I understand that - but like I said it's WAY overdiagnosed and the meds are abused by most people who use them
Dependency on a narcotic is a terrible thing when all other avenues for treatment haven't been exhausted

I pop one sometimes when I'm tailgating all day and need to shake back. A lot of people take them just for the hell of it. I couldn't do that because they absolutely kill my appetite. Like I won't eat one thing all day. They also give me heart palpitations the next day if I take a lot which freaks me out
I have a buddy that's prescribed them and he pops them like skittles and they're the strong 50mg. Can't be good for his heart in the long run
