Why is oxyconton legal? It kills thousands every year.

My childs psychiatrist went straight to the non-stimulant meds when my son was diagnosed severe adhd and I'm glad he did
Insurances are starting to require trying non-stimulants first, which is a good thing.

I've been in banland a while, but I for one enjoy a seeing a good ol' Adderall thread.
I can't wait till the OT chemists get in here and start with their rhetoric.

See, because I actually need it, I don't understand the high some people get from it. Adderall is a downer for me, it puts my mood on the floor, I almost get depressed when I'm on it.
People think I'm crazy because I say the exact same thing. Im in my late 30's and was put on it around 8-10.
When I got out of high school I quit taking it because it kept me in a trance like I was sedated. Opioids however make me hyped up, wide the frick open. I just always figured I had some wires crossed somewhere and things effected me differently than others.

It's also partly the teacher's fault. They aren't wanting to deal with hyper kids, so they make them get on meds. Saw it firsthand with my brother's step son. 6 years old and at a child psychologist. How ridiculous is it when a teacher can't get control of a hyper 6 yr old
First of all, teachers can't make their students get on meds. Secondly, try spending the entire day locked in a room with with your step nephew. Now add 32 more just like him! I have two words for that scenario - frick That! You are right though...it's the teachers fault. FWIW, I think that we over-prescribe as a society. That being said, for the card carrying ADD peeps, drugs like these are a gift from God.

Then don't become an elementary school teacher. It's nobody's fault but your own that you decided to put up with snot nosed, hyper kids all day. I wouldn't want to put up with 32 of him, so I didn't.

Yes sir. We all metabolize drugs differently.

Here's the REAL reason: Adderall is much, much cheaper and more plentiful than the alternatives (Evekeo, Vyvanse, Focalin XR or Adzenys). Insurance companies are forcing the doctor's hand when it comes down to it. No physician intentionally want to put a child or adult on Adderall or Ritalin as a first choice. These are very well known (to all physicians) to be addictive and most abused but when all the better ones are denied by the insurance company and the patient cannot afford to pay out of pocket (some meds are $400/month out of pocket), this is what's left. Again, IT'S CHEAP AND PLENTIFUL. INSURANCE COMPANIES DON'T CARE ABOUT ADDICTION OR ABUSE, ONLY THEIR BOTTOM LINE... THE DOLLAR.

It works as intended for the kids who need them when people take them that don't need them it can have a lot of negative side effects

Are you me? Am I you? Have our wires crossed?

I've come to the conclusion I can't stay on Opioids because of this. When it comes to stuff like percocet, apparently I'm part hippo.

Vyvanse is even harder in my opinion

Ask your physician for a Pharmacogenetics (Pharmacogenomics) test. That will give you a nice little road map of what meds work best for you.
Good luck.

Why not? I'm shitty at my job without adderal and I'm a beast with it. I wouldn't ever suggest children take it. I didn't take it till I was 26.
