I know, I was just dicking around... Look, don't get me wrong, there are people who actually do need it and benefit from it. I understand that - but like I said it's WAY overdiagnosed and the meds are abused by most people who use them
Dependency on a narcotic is a terrible thing when all other avenues for treatment haven't been exhausted
Absolutely agree. This was all you needed to say from the get-go. I think most on here would concur, and that's especially true from those who DO need it.

As it should. They can kill you if you have any sort of heart abnormality (which MANY people do and simply don't know). We had our son evaluated by a cardiologist before we would give him the first one and I would recommend that be done yearly, personally.

It isn't. Neither is Monster, AMP, Red Bull, etc. But that isn't stopping people from chugging.

It does this for me when I pop one at work before a meeting...
Nothing like watching people dozing off or sipping coffee and yawning in a meeting when you took 10mg 20 min before.
As much as I do enjoy the feeling and partying on the med, I am prescribed and I can focus like a mofo in meetings and be all engaged and shite in the discussions.
I just don't like to sit at my desk and do normal work on them.

Boggles me brain when I see medical professionals(granted it's not usually RNs and Drs) getting two Red Bulls in the morning before work by OLOL.
20mg of adderall is way better than Drinking two Red Bulls on a 12 hr shift(Presuming they are not saving one for the next day).

Leave me and my adderall alone, dick face. I'm a grown man and I like it.

I've taken aderall for years. Usually no more than 5mg in a day. Occasionally 10mg. After years of this dosage I've never had the urge to take more and wouldn't want to. But even 5mg is more useful and probably just as healthy as a Red Bull.

That's true. And people doing this with "energy drinks" are treating it like their daily coffee. My wife had to treat a guy that came into the cardiologist office she worked for at the time because he was having severe irregularities in his heart rhythm.....all due to the number of energy drinks he'd had in the last couple of days. And it wasn't what one would consider a "high" number.

I will sometimes nap after taking mine. Wish it was a better wake up honestly.
Does allow me to sit still and accomplish a task. Wouldn't say I'm super focused, but enough to accomplish a task that requires me to sit at a desk and work. I'd be way more engaged at a meeting without it. Worth the dry mouth and crippling hunger if I forget to eat when it wears off.

If you consider the number of people abusing meds like Aderall on the regular and not experiencing any significant adverse effects (and I mean taking way more than a normal dose, even at the highest prescribed levels), I'd wager they are safer than Red Bulls.

I don't know what's going on. They are just starting to do this.
This has been happening for a while, but I do think the trend started with college kids studying for midterms/finals
For myself, a low dose of adderall works as intended.... 40mg or higher and I feel like partying

Probably right. I don't consider Red Bull's or aderall to be exactly healthy, but I'll take my chances with the low dose of aderall. I hear the horror stories about energy drinks.

You can see that cracked out look on Freshman faces every year during finals. Like jittery dehydrated rabbits.

When I was in middle school.. Late 80s, early 90s, my parents had me tested. I was in "accelerated classes", an A student, but at some point in middle school my grades started dropping. My parents knew something was going on, but didn't know exactly what it was...I had to go do some testing, etc... And the results were that I was ADHD.
At the time I was taking ritalin, but I didn't like feeling drowsy. I preferred to be sociable than to be able to focus on school work and my grades suffered, when I got to HS I started trying to take it again and just didn't like to take it for the same reasons I mentioned, plus I was embarrassed. I didn't want to say I was taking meds. I was switched to adderall and that worked better for me, but still I didn't like taking it. I never understood why people wanted to take it if they didn't have to because it made me feel anti-sociable. When I got into college, after a semester, I decided to start taking it because I just couldn't study for a long time.
When I did study I was worried about everything else going on around. When I did get to the point I would start studying, it didn't take much to distract me and once that happened, it was hard to start up again. It wasn't anything I could help. I would get frustrated at myself because I couldn't do it, but I finally decided I had to take it and get organized, etc. I still take it today. If its a day when I don't have anything going on, if I don't take it I am fine, but if I have to be productive I depend on it to help me focus.
Just in general, I enjoy learning, I like teaching myself, etc and when I don't take it.. These are things I want to do, but is difficult for me. In order to make it easier, I asked my primary care doctor if I can start getting him to write my prescriptions. What I had to do to get him to prescribe it for me was surprising. I had to fill out a form that said "Do you feel you have ADD or ADHD?" "What symptoms do you have?".. And a few other general questions.. Evidently, if you want to get a prescription for adderall, all one would have to do is go fill out that form and BAM.. So people don't even have to get tested..

Ritalin is a horrible drug. Worst comedown out of any legal or illegal drug I've ever tried. I went through the whole gamut after they became available, and Adderall is what suits me best. Everything else either makes me nauseous, jittery, gives me twitches, or my natural anger comes out.
With Adderall, I can eat, sleep, frick, etc normally. Only side effects are dehydration, smoking more cigs, and I sometimes blink too much because my contacts get dry from being dehydrated. I usually drink 1-2gal of water a day, but am still dehydrated. No biggie

Addy is a freaking Godsend of a drug.
I'm 26-years-old and I'm not prescribed and don't have ADD, ADHD or whichever one it is.
I used it in college minimally, but the last few GF's I've had have had scripts for it and I've gotten a few here and there for work related stuff, or long drives during weird hours for work.
I'll admit it, it's a feeling that IMO is unrivaled when speaking of highs. I honestly feel euphoria unlike any other. That's one reason why I try not to take it too often though.
