BRILAB

The mob in New Orleans never died off. It infiltrated local and state government. It has never been more powerful in Louisiana than now. To this day, said governments are so inefficient and unjust due to that history.

I’ve nearly been murdered by branches of the mob.

Read my post history and you will find all the details needed. I decided a long time ago not to talk about it, as it gives me palpitations.

Every Italian from New Orleans always claim they are related to Carlos Marcelo like it’s some badge of honor. Why people try to brag about related to a thug criminal is beyond me. It’s no different than bragging on being related to a blood or crip, they are all the same except for skin color.

How is it bragging? I’m not related to Marcelo but if i was and mentioned it, how is it ‘bragging’? Is this board full of 3rd graders? Never mind, dont answer that.

To me, it’s no different than the fact that some of us here (myself included) are descended from plantation owners.. I know which plantation the other (non-Sicilian) side of my family owned 100 years ago, and the history is personally fascinating to me.. but if i’m talking Louisiana history with someone and it comes up, i’m In NO way bragging that my family owned slaves.

Vendetta was a terrible film. Cheap production that wouldn’t pass a Delgado film final project assignment today.

The movie was not so much about the NOLA mob as it was painting as innocent martyrs the Italians that were killed by the American mob after the chief was killed.

Excuse me, let me tell you something... When America opened up the floodgates and let all us Italians in, what do you think they were doing it for? 'Cause they were trying to save us from poverty? No, they did it because they needed us. They needed us to build their cities and dig their subways, and to make them richer. The Carnegies and The Rockerfellers: they needed worker bees and there we were. But some of us didn't want to swarm around their hive and lose who we were. We wanted to stay Italian and preserve the things that meant something to us: honor and family and loyalty... and some of us wanted a piece of the action. Now we weren't educated like the Americans, but we had the BALLS to take what we wanted! And those other folks, those other... the, the JP Morgans, they were crooks and killers too, but that was the business right? The American Way.

This is true for near 100% of the Jewish guys I've known as well. I wouldn't exactly call it lying in either case because it's usually vague hints about connections.

Unrelated: Why has there never been a big budget biopic of Marie Laveau? That could make an incredible movie.

There's so much backstory, a movie or series would be great.

I thought that was about the five Sicilians who were murdered in Tallulah.
