After we had gotten to know some folks for four or five years, one night over dinner at their place, the wine flowed and so did their stories of their childhood.

In another situation, family connections via Miami were definitely called in to keep some nice high school boys out of NOPP one Saturday night.

please link. I have personal knowledge of the mob and have read extensively about it and never heard of this. Are you confusing your story with the Hennessy Massacre ?

Did he not know that the editors were going to put pictures of his skinny arse in the book?

I doubt he cared

I do remember seeing some old New Orleans police talking about how full of shite he was, basically he exaggerated all his stories and connections with the mob. In reality, he was just some low level pimp. Not sure how true either version is though

The trouble with New Orleans is not organized crime. It is unorganized crime that is the real problem.

The dumbasses on this board don’t realize that the American Mafia was started in New Orleans. Another note, New Orleans has more historical sites than any other city in the country. Instead of shitting on the city, enjoy it and learn about it.
Edit for spelling.

Actually, that movie and Garrsion's book/prosecution did more to shield the mob in New Orleans than anything else.

This.

The book and movie hide all the deep connections to the Mafia. Charles Harrelson,, for example.

First one that popped up for me on Google, but there are other sources aa well

quote:

For although the house Giaconas sold their liquor and made a cushy living, the Sicilian Black Hand (a sect of the mafia in New Orleans) felt that the Giaconas were impeding on territory. That they were not paying their dues. The name "Black Hand" referred, naturally, to their less than gracious extortion methods.

Pietro Giacona, the patriarch of the family, issued an invitation to four of the members of the mob, but it was also he (and his son) that issued their death. In the middle of the dinner, the Giaconas stood, grabbing their pistols and opening fire. Three of the Black Hand dropped to the floor, lifeless, while the fourth was gravely injured. He somehow managed to escape but he did not get far, crawling as he was on the cobblestoned streets outside. The assassinations had been conducted with Pietro's two young daughters just down the hall in their bedrooms.

I’m half-Sicilian, and my great great grandfather was a member of what was called the ‘Black Hand of the Mafia’ in New Orleans in , i believe, the early 1900s.. there was a famous murder of the 5 heads of the families

Huh? Not sure what narrative your trying to push, but the article I quoted mentions the Black hand, the murders, and i mistakenly said 5 members when it was only 4... What are you missing?

Im not trying to push a 'narrative' lol.

Maybe im reading it or interpreting it wrong. When I read the murder of 5 heads of the families, im thinking 5 different crime families heads are murdered. Something like the godfather.

Im genuinely curious because i read a lot about the mafia

What Jones said. You made it sound like the 5 Family heads. The 4 or 5 family members story you linked is well known. Ever heard of Giacona Containers,Mardi Gras cups ?
