My point was that we aren't the reason this is a thing, China is. Left-wing Snopes even disputes that Trump was referring the virus itself as a hoax. Dr. Fauci was saying back in late January that this thing was not a major threat to the U.S. But lmao at equivocating Trump's bullshite from a rally to the Chinese politburo's gross mismanagement because you don't like muh Trump.

He NEVER set a deadline nor did he predict so. We would ALL LOVE if it were possible for it to have been possible to open up by easter, but it was not. He listened to his health advisers and extended the guidelines to april 30th.

USSR was a true military rival with designs on turning the world communist. Russia is still a bigger "enemy" than China but smaller threat than the USSR was since they can't step out of an abyss of perpetual corruption.
China is conquering with the carrot, not the stick, and it's working... as the USA continues to be internally divided and effectively neutered when it comes to influence around the world. Trump is destroying our clout, but it was fading anyway.

It was a statement that in context was not based on the facts and science at the time. It was in effect down playing the seriousness of the virus. But Trump tweeted too around the same time that the corona virus was no big deal.
As for calling the virus a hoax, he called it a democratic hoax which is the same thing.

I view them with absolute disdain. Horrible government with human rights violations out the wazoo. We may get cheap labor from the Chinese but there is a moral cost to that labor.
Seems with this pandemic, there is now a physical cost that accompanies that moral cost. When the dust settles it’s time for our businesses to move their resources out of China.
