I use paper plates, but everything else is reusable. Paper is biodegradable.

Going through the gauntlet of having young kids and family over frequently, just seems like it's much easier to throw plates and utensils in the trash rather than having to go through the time to wash them in the dishwasher, unload them, etc

That's exactly what i do. My kids eat off of paper plates or their little plastic kids plates. When i have parties, it's plastic utensils and paper plates/bowls. I'm not washing all of that shite.

I hate waste. Is it really that hard to clean your dishes? That lazy? If you are, then at least go with the biodegradable / compostable disposable places and utensils. We have used them for outings before and I just added them to my compost pile. Works pretty well, even better if you shred the plates.

So do I. My number one waste enemy is time doing wasted crap like washing dishes.

why don't you and yours just eat with your hands right out of the bowl? as simple as it gets.

If you get the right paper plates its recyclable - just rinse the food off first

I've got young kids, a wife, and a dishwasher. We use paper plates all the time. Idgaf. We use regular utensils though.

Next Christmas party, i'm serving gumbo. No bowls. Bring gloves because it will be hot.

What does young kids have to do with the argument of using paper plates vs reusable, plastic or other material plates? Serious question.

I would almost think a paper plate for a toddler is the last thing to use - as they can just fling the whole plate and contents all over?

Is it that hard to put the food in reusable bowl or plate, and rinse it off once done?

Tell me how all that is better than a simple paper plate that gets thrown away and turns into dirt in a few months?

In my case it's the ease of just tossing their entire mess in the trash. If they were old enough to wash and store their own dishes, I would be more inclined to use real tableware.

No, it's not hard, but I don't want to do it nonetheless.

Bet you don’t make your bed every morning too. This laziness is how America sinks further and further. Stand up and act like a man.

The laziness and lack of caring about our environment is really astounding.

Especially if you have kids, you should want to leave the world/planet in a better place for future generations. Part of this is teaching and leading our kids by example.
