I've worked in places with dress codes ranging from coat and tie to jeans and t-shirts. Always felt more productive in the more casual attire.
me too, and casual wear is good if your job requires creativity.
The big boss just mandated we start wearing suits. Our company official dress code is "use your discretion" but he has said, you have to wear a suit and tie. Going from clogs/jeans/sweater to a suit is fricking rough. Luckily I work from home most days.

We keep them in a dark room at the end of a long hallway. They can wear what they want as long as they stay there during business hours
Exactly. They have an entirely different workspace so unless they're fixing something I never see them. I know they dress more casually, but it's not like they're meeting with clients.

Never had salespeople. My company's rep for getting the job done took care of everything. Any company or company rep that judges work by wardrobe are fools at best.
That's nice and all, but there are plenty of people who care about how you present yourself and make decisions accordingly. Even if they're fools for doing so, meeting their expectations is a good enough reason to have a dress code in many lines of work.

I'm a Systems Administrator and you should worry less about what we wear, and worry more about what happened to your Tigerdroppings.com access.
And why that password you have been using for years is off by a letter.

I mean, like everyone I know in IT has a TD account, and if the guy is really from TX or Louisiana, the odds are high someone on his IT staff also has one... he's gotta be pretty stupid to post this on the OT

These threads pop up once or twice per year.
I love them because it tells me there are a ton of IT guys like me who kill time dual screening work and TD

3 times just yesterday it fixed the issue... 3 times in one day!!
Also my favorite:
"You guys aren't going to wipe out my computer again are you? It took me 2 weeks to get my computer back up to how I like it last time you did it"
**I look up her earliest restore point on her computer** - 1/11/2017
"Yup, you're right, it only took you 2 weeks to frick up your computer to the point that you needed me again" smh....

My favorite is "why do our passwords have to be so complicated and change so often?"
I've gotten in trouble for starting my response off with "well, Mrs. Clinton..."

Our IT department doesn't have a strict dress code. They spend most of their time in the basement anyway.
I'll try to find a picture.
Found it.

Uh,no I didn't. But thanks for telling me that after starting and running my company for 40 years I had people on my payroll
I never knew about.

frick them and their expectations. I ran my company that way and by any measure was extremely successful.

What's it matter to you? How they dress shouldn't effect your janitorial duties
