Maybe its because I have driven that route so often, but coming east from Texas/LA, its so damn boring I almost look forward to hitting the tunnel in Mobile.

Some days you can drive 90mph through Ocala, then others, traffic is backed up 25 miles for no reason. My little one went to UF and it was a crapshoot every time we went up to visit.
The interstate from I-10/I-75 intersection to Airline Hwy is the longest 530 miles on the planet.

Friend,
My assumption has always been the traffic is due to Signature Brands Popcorn’s headquarters and factory being located in Ocala. Signature is the largest producer of popcorn tins that we all love so dearly, especially during the Advent season, in the world. Would it not be great if we could arrange a field trip there?

You are right it wasnt like that until the last few years. From Tampa to Ocala is a nightmare especially in season. We left SWFL heading to St.Simons the day the snowbirds left. Mistake. It should have been 5 hours took over 8 with Tampa- Ocala a shitshow. Actually took the backroads and saved an hour. Lord dont let it rain either.

Ocala is getting a Bucees at their own new interchange in 2025. Let’s see how the traffic is in a couple years.

Anywhere on I-4, from Daytona to Tampa, is a pain in the patoot! I-4 during rush hour on a week day is nearly as bad as Atlanta.
The champions gate area just past disney is the worst spot though. No matter what time of day it is backed up.
Sanford area lately during rush hour has gotten horrible.

Taking US-27 from Ocala area to near Tallahassee is showing less and less of a time difference that I-10/I-75 when I drive from Pensacola area to south of Tampa. Sometimes I take US-98 through Brooksville....
Less traffic for sure.... some old Florida sights remain though fewer and fewer

Only Baton Rouge has bad traffic with no viable alternative for west bound I-10 traffic to avoid a 90 degree turn that also funnels three lanes to one and half lanes. And this is AFTER a bridge crossing.
Even Mobile, which is half the size of BR and does the same thing into a tunnel gives you two full lanes, has another tunnel right next to it, and a loop to a bridge crossing a few miles away that adds 15 minutes to your trip.
Nothing along the 1-10 corridor compares to the BR west bound bridge self inflicted shite show.

Anyone who says Disney is the happiest place on earth has never driven down 4 to get there. It's the world's largest parking lot.

You haven't been in years and this one time is your sample size?
Traffic can suck pretty much anywhere. We head to Orlando several times per year, and honestly we just drive overnight. We leave after rush hour in ATL and plan to arrive after midnight. Typically no traffic at all, it just costs an extra hotel day but it's worth it to me.
