But the worst part was getting on a scale for the first time in over two years.. Was definitely a wake up call; but when they weighed me i had on a heavy winter jacket, heavy boots, had my cellphone and my work cellphone (#humblebrag) in my pockets, as well as some other stuff…

Dumb arse. I would never weigh like that. No matter what they say, they're gonna wait for me to take that shite off, including my shoes or I'm not getting on their scale. I have never in my life weighed in shoes.

Shoes come off. No matter what. I don't care about their rules.

Nope. Why go back later and do it? Either make them wait and do it the way you want or don't do it at all. I don't understand going back. But I'd make them wait on me...every single time.

They can tell just by looking at person ithat they are overweight, they want the number in the chart to see how it trends over time. tlike monitor if you suddenly were losing weight for no reason.

Some five-foot-tall chick who weighs three bills should definitely keep her shoes and clothes on to get weighed.

They assume that you will also be wearing clothes on your follow up visit. Subtract one number from the other for gain/loss. Duh Are you an Asian dude that hangs out naked at the airport?

I did a home test and the difference was 6 pounds. That’s a pretty big difference to make decisions off of.

“You need to lose 10 pounds.”

“Ok I’ll take my clothes off.”

Believe it or not the physician who is evaluating you knows that you are wearing clothes when you are weighed. They can pretty much look at you and tell if you need to lose weight or not. I doubt they are commenting on your weight if you are ~5 pounds "overweight". Pretty sure I was around ~5 pounds overweight (per BMI) for my last visit and it was never mentioned. If you're healthy otherwise, they don't care about something that insignificant.

They only care about trends and how you look. They can tell whether you are carrying too much fat by looking at you.

Your precise weight doesn't matter that much to your GP. He thinks you look fat, and whether you are 170 or 160 doesn't matter to him.

Are you that scared to see a number on the scale, even though you know it isn't "valid"?

Your cheap home scale is wrong.

I weighed myself at home before the doc visit and they were the same, I took off shoes, emptied my pockets, etc at the docs office.

The scale at my doctor’s office is in the hallway … that would be awkward …

The temperature check is even less accurate. They use those deals that shine a light or just touch you. Complete shite.

I always ask the nurse what it says, and it's all over the place. Once she said some low number like 97. I told her I was there because I was running a fever. Tried it again, and what-do-you-know, it jumped up several degrees.

You sound like you have an eating disorder if weighing in shoes would trigger you this badly
