I lived my first 31 years in Monroe and my last 39 years in north central Ark. I've said for years that from Pine Bluff south to Alexandria should be a state. There is basically no cultural differences at all that I have seen.

I think there is a feeling among some people in the Cajun part of the state that it's the real Louisiana but it's certainly not all of the Southern part of the state.
Go hang out in Clinton or Greensburg and tell me those people are any different than CENLA or NLA baws.

Lived in South LA my entire life, and outside of giving people from North LA shite for being Cowboys fans; the South LA people that I know don't have anything against the people from north LA.
On the other hand...
I know a handful of people from North LA and they definitely have issues with trying to convince everyone why the North part of the State is so much better than the South; not that anyone asks or cares. Definitely comes across as a deflection and inferiority complex.

South Louisiana doesn’t hate north Louisiana. They nothing North Louisiana.
They academically know that you are there, but they’ve never seen cultural evidence that North Louisiana exists. So if not for the awesomeness of La Tech or the horror of internet recipes featuring tomatoes in gumbo, they’d never think about north Louisiana.
They also assume that Superior Grill is a Baton Rouge or New Orleans thing because it’s a decent restaurant with really good drinks and live music.

I’m rooting for them. I want to see a major auto plant open up in the Monroe or Shreveport area. I want to see more industry and economic growth there. But it just isn’t happening for some reason.
The few places in Louisiana that are growing are in the southern part of the state. And they remain dependent on energy, chemical, and shipping.

When I lived there, they didn't even acknowledge S. La existed. They wanted to be Texans.
