Why does Louisiana keep giving money for Super Dome renovations rather than blowing it up?

It’s a bottom 10 NFL stadium venue. It sucks.
The state needs to quit pumping money into it. A sugar-coated turd is still a turd. I went twice last season and the amenities were pretty weak. It’s dark in the hallways and there aren’t many good concessions. The hallways are narrow. The stairways are steep, the multi-colored seat backs across the stadium look like an origami show. There’s not enough room for the ticket lines outside the stadium, and the lines get backed up and have to wrap around each other several times.
Instead of doing renovations over and over, the state should buy a piece of property in the middle of a field in St. Tammany Parish. There would be much more room for parking and there wouldn’t be a traffic cluster frick like in downtown NOLA. Access to the stadium would be much easier, and they could put in state-of-the-art amenities.
It would be a setup just like many of the nice newer stadiums like Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts. Having the stadium outside the city is so much better.

Or let them move to San Antonio

Buying a big piece of land outside the city is like writing a check to the NFL rather than getting money to locals.
The NFL controls the entire thing, parking, food, entertainment, tailgating, etc.
Turns it to a sterile gameday feel and takes away from Louisiana's investment to bolster the local economy.

Gillette is twenty years old, why would this be your example when picking an NFL stadium

The State can't even afford to keep its roads and bridges in good condition. Building a new stadium is probably at the bottom of the list of priorities right now.

Whether it’s renovate or build new, it has to stay in the current location.

It would be interesting to see a stadium at the Mardi Gras World/Market Street area.
The current area is logistically perfect though.

Austin Saints. Arch will play there after winning multiple Heismans and national championship at UT

After all the renovations that have been done, I don't understand why this is still a thing.

I couldn’t disagree with you more here. There’s a reason it keeps hosting stuff like final fours and Super Bowls, despite being over 50 years old. There are enough hotels within walking distance to house everyone involved in the event and tons of fans. Also, having the French quarter and other downtown amenities right there is great too.

The Austin Saints. Could have the first all trans cheerleader team.

Yeah St. Tammany would love that. Everyone moves there to get away from the NOLA shitshow

Of the 14 stadiums i've been to Gillette is the worst setup. A 2 lane road in and out where you sit in traffic for 2 hours heading back to Boston where you stayed. Tailgating only allowed outside the complex, no beer allowed inside the entire complex. Worst stadium experience i've been to. It would've been so much better if the stadium was in Downtown Boston much like the Superdome is in Downtown New Orleans.

Well, two things are certain:
1. You’re fat.
2. You don’t know what origami is.

The Superdome location is quite possible the only thing New Orleans has done right in the last 50 years.

I park by the quarter, grab breakfast at Johnny's or something, walk to the stadium, watch a game, walk back to the quarter and grab something to eat and then drive home all why encountering little traffic. We had season tickets for a long time, I think we sat in traffic once. There is too much to go do to sit in traffic.

You realize they just built a new terminal. They didn’t close the airport and move somewhere else.
If you did realize that, are you actually suggesting that they build a stadium between the intersecting runways, yards away from the runway itself?
