In general people seem to be more appreciative of law graduates vs engineer/scientists (physics, math, computer etc.) counterparts.

What?

I'm not even really clear as to what you're getting at here.

Because lawyers aren't socially unaware enough to constantly post stupid questions on a message board or make anime jokes?

Seems like a profession where morals are on the back burner.

It's just business, bro.

Lawyers have more perceived value because their profession is viewed as exciting. There are TV shows and movies which depict what lawyers do for a living. Engineers are typically viewed as computer nerds who sit in front of a screen all day long. The perception may not be complete reality, but that's how it goes

The dirty little not-so secret is that no one here wants to "get" you.

Maybe it's your cheesy used car salesman smile.

Iona puts up with you. He drew the short straw or is just too gd nice.

Graduating from a shitty law school is far less impressive than a Bachelor's in engineering or hard science IMO

Fortunately, the legal market sucks balls and a high percentage of these people can't find jobs.

Most people need to hire lawyers at some point to save their arse, most don't directly hire scientists or engineers.

As opposed to the route you've chosen--turning to the OT to validate your existence.

It's because lawyers have more drama in their lives. More drama = better movie. Nice try

The Shakespeare quote first thing we do is kill all the lawyers, is actually a tremendous compliment to the value of lawyers in society. If you read the play you understand. It's ironic when people use it as a negative. Owl not speaking at you just a general statement.

Engineers on average will make more money than lawyers. I know a few lawyers that make less than $40K a year which is around $18 per hour. Whereas, an SDET at Amazon will start at $120K a year with RSU's as a part of the compensation package.

I'm glad I'm a EE major and wouldn't have it any other way.

This is a pretty good summary leading to the perception. Are they truly more valuable? I don't think so since if engineers and scientist stopped designing, building, and maintaining things, then the first world wouldn't operate as we know it. We could get along just fine without lawyers. They essentially create a market for themselves with litigation, policies, etc. You can't be sued for doing something the wrong way if a lawyer isn't around to do it. They have a built in method for job security.

Most associates at decent sized firms start around $110,000 - $130,000.

Lawyers that work as public defenders and legal aid society? Laugh at the salary all you want, but these lawyers provide an invaluable service to society.
