I am not worried. I am happy with what I am pursuing now. I just wanted some people to give me insight on this since its apparently a common phenomena.

Unless their is an underline concept I am missing, engineers and quantitative scientist are hard workers.

Probably because people interact with attorneys much more so than engineers or scientists. People need attorneys for criminal defense, wills and estates, trusts, contract disputes, divorce and custody issues, personal property disputes, land ownership disputes, employment disputes, intellectual property issues, bankruptcy issues, workers' compensation issues, tax issues, etc .............

Thank you, I knew law had alot of different specialties but I never really correlated the number of personal interactions lawyers have with the public.

Engineers aren't as good at self-promotion.

Lawyers in certain specialities would starve to death if they were not good at self-promotion.

No. You see insecurity has different stages. For simplicity, it goes from E to S class, with S being the highest grade. (E,D,C,B,A, and finally S). I fall in the E class. The S class people you are referring to are those who buy expensive luxuries in order to impress people to gain validation for their existence. ETA: This is an anime reference for those savvy enough to figure it out.

I'm not an attorney, but (off the top of my head) our legal department deals with: mediation and arbitration, contract negotiations, employment issues (such as non-compete), workers' compensation, intellectual property, tax issues, products liability/tort law

Lawyers are terrible until you need one and when you need one, you have nowhere else to go.

The criminal defense guys don't do anything. They just spend 15 minutes getting a plea deal from their buddies in the DA office and charge you thousands for that.

The divorce lawyers try to start fights and milk everyone dry.

The ambulance chasers are ambulance chasers.

It's all a game to bleed people in whatever situation dry.

They will have a girl in their office making $10/hr mail a letter and it will show up as $250 when billed.

The couple of times I've ever needed a lawyer, it's been the same.

Even when you have a good lawyer and they do a good job for you, you still end up raped.

Seems like a profession where morals are on the back burner. But to be fair, other industries can be just as corrupt.

Lawyers generally get paid more, therefore they are of higher value to society. That's the simple answer,

It's not discrimination just the free market at work.

I'm pretty sure the average salary of most engineering fields is higher than for attorneys, so no, the economic value for engineers is higher than for lawyers.

Most lawyers aren't paid that well, especially since the Recession. There's a huge glut in the legal labor market.

Bruh, minimum wage and $450, you are behind on the times.

Sometimes I will stuff the letter myself and charge you a couple grand.

There's a difference between law school degree and a engineering degree.

You don't understand that?

GOOD lawyers from GOOD law schools are extremely valued. With the over abundance of unnecessary laws and today's sue happy environment lawyers who went to a law school worth a damn and are good at what they do are invaluable and will continue to be until we have meaningful tort reform (i.e. never)
