i think its great they get electric stuff to last longer and go farther, one day, in the future, they might be able to do it in an affordable way regular people can buy and not have batteries more toxic then nuclear waste filling up landfills to do it.
the batteries they used are not recyclable which is my real complaint with them. its the same with ethynol, it can replace gas but only by being twice as expensive to produce then gas and at the same time its very harmful to most engines that arent built specific to use them at a HUGE expense.
once again things that are supposed to be "green" and somehow make us less dependent on fossil fuels, end up being more costly as well as they create hazardous waste when the batteries must be replaced every so often so they are in fact worse then the fuels they want to replace
that said, i for one, think the trade off of not hearing those damn loud arse trucks on the road next to you all the time would be well worth the toxic waste they create from batteries piling up in land fills everywhere.

Basically the whole OP is speculative and a straw man.
I dislike Tesla because they are routinely late with new products and are grossly over valued as a company. I work in the tech industry, not the oilfield.

try reading up on it, those arent flashlight batteries they use and no they arent recyclable at all and yeas they are discarded as hazardous waste after.
that is how they get so much power out of them and also be light weight. because its a trade off of them getting the power and long life out of them by giving up using the type of batteries that are in any way recyclable.

Name an oil company that can do business the way it demands without Washington. Does big oil use government monies for research and development? Sure they do.
You see, Tesla gets the Lib label because it's convenient to use the word as it's crutch. But there is almost nary an industry in the land that can say it doesn't rely on Washington to allow them to do business in the same manner. It's ALL government intervention and welfare. You just have to look at it through unbiased and bullshite eyes.
