Why does every Tesla thread trigger oilfield baws on this site?

They get all defensive when Tesla comes out with something new and groundbreaking. They go after Tesla’s government subsidies pretending as if the oil and gas industry has never had the benefit of any government largesse.

It’s hilarious really watching these baws trying to cling on to the old world and justifying their way of thinking, when the world around them is changing rapidly. Get your heads out of the sand and open your eyes.

Why do cab drivers hate Uber and Lyft?

Same reason.

The biggest knock against Tesla is that they are the poster child for corporate welfare.

Could say the same thing for everyone of lord musks defenders too. He’s above criticism. It’s a 2 way street. Tesla still uses tons of plastics and let’s not forget about the batteries these things use. The technology for driving is top notch. He just rubs people the wrong way, never delivers any Tesla product on time either.

You do realize that Tesla will have a very minute affect on the oil business...

Let use know when Tesla starts using tires made of wood...

Side note... Did you enjoy using your plastic computer making this post...?

Electric vehicles are going to happen at some point. Most likely next generation. I'd guess most noticeably by 2050. No need for everyone to freak out now.

The hate for advancement is comical.

That said, I wouldn't tell my kid to become a petroleum engineer currently.

Groundbreaking stuff usually doesn't require huge subsidies.

Elon musk is in the business of collecting subsidies. If his product was groundbreaking he wouldn't need them.

He'll continue to start new companies that takes money from the taxpayer

Tesla has built two high-end luxury cars subsidized by taxpayers.

Now they are bordering on fraud by collecting advanced payments for products that will never be delivered.

One thing in common...all of his products require lots of fossil fuels to be produced.

No company should receive subsidies. Government should not be picking winners and losers. Tesla is the person everyone dislikes at the welfare line who collects welfare and drives a brand new Mercedes. They live on the back of tax payers when they certainly don't need it.
