quote:These folks are delusional, you’d need to have what 200-250MM under management to bring in a consistent 7 figures a year at EJ. It’s just not going to happen. It’s no different than thinking the HR Block guy in this thread is making the same salary as a F500 CFO because they’re both accountants. Not to mention that anyone who just comes out and says they’re making a million dollars a year likely isn’t bringing in anywhere near that.
This board always delivers
You are completely insane if you think some guy rolling over retirement accounts in south Louisiana is making more than a MD at Goldman in Manhattan.

I can't speak much for EJ, but I can for Northwestern Mutual as I know several of their reps.
Noone makes 50K a year with them. Either you are successful and make well into 6 figures a year, or, you wash out.
I would say at least 90 percent of people who start with them, wash out.
But if you have a large rolodex and like to sell, it can be a very lucrative career path.
It does seem like most of the successful reps I know, are doing this as a second career.

American Funds are a staple of every EJ statement I come across.
They did, or maybe still do, get extra revenue from placing business with American Funds.

Are you saying that your friend is pulling in 1MM per year as a financial adviser for EJ or a similar shop?
Northwestern.
In the mid-90s, New York Life had 3-4 reps in the Baton Rouge office alone with income over 600k a year, two with greater than $1,000k. That was just Baton Rouge. Couple in Shreveport, 4-5+ in NOLA, and 3-4+ in Lafayette.
Another 1/2 dozen in BTR with income >$150k.

Read Ric Edelman’s book “the lies about money.” He list all the firms that were fined for different things. EJ and AF were mentioned several times for kickbacks.
