Why Do We Tell Kids This Nonsense About Santa?

First off the story about the kid dying in Santa's arms was incredibly sad, that was awful and Im glad somebody could comfort that poor child in his final moments but now for the normal kids......

We have special santas now, black ones, white ones, asian ones whatever to cater to all groups with a guy who isn't even real to begin with. What is the point of continuing the santa nonsense now that it has to be politically correct? Would it shatter kids lives to know santa wasn't real? I feel like the kids wouldn't care as long as the gifts continued to roll in.

Because it's fun. I enjoyed it as a kid and my children enjoy it now.

Life is a continuous series of lies followed by disappointment. This is simply the kindest way with the least amount of consequences to acclimate them to this shitty reality.

Because kids love the shite out of it. Then they get 8-10 find out it isn't real and go on with life. It's not about grown ups. Don't over think it.

It's about preserving the innocence and magic of childhood. It's about having fun.

Because the idea that an omnipotent being that watches you sleep and decides if you are good enough to receive presents on Jesus' birthday is the most powerful tool a parent possesses.

And the kids enjoy it too, I guess.

Having someone you trust and love look you directly in the eye and lie their arse off is probably the best training for adulthood there is

Why do you think you have the expertise to raise other people's children?

Because it teaches kids to believe in goodness and giving and to have faith in something they can't necessarily see. It's about parents seeing the innocence and joy in their children's eyes for such a short period of time before they grow up and become cynical, manipulative economic drains!
