This happened to me on a long flight where I was trapped in a window seat and an obese girl with her obese friend took the next two seats beside me. There was no way they could fit in the two seats and the girl in the middle asked if she could raise the arm rest. I flat out told her no since she would spill over on top of me. She rang for the flight attendant and asked her if she would make me raise the arm rest. The attendant took one look and went on the intercom and made an announcement for volunteers for a small person to change seats in exchange for some free food and drinks. A little 12 yr old kid made the switch and they put big girl in his aisle seat. I could tell she was humiliated but it couldn’t be helped.

Airlines could EASILY put in some sort of height weight restrictions requiring 2 seats if you exceed. They charge for everything else. If you cant fit in one seat why wouldn’t you have to pay for 2? Airlines DGAF so just charge for it. Everyone will be happier and you’d have to tase less folks etc. I honestly don’t know why they haven’t figured out some sort of thin plexiglass partition between seat also. Why try to pretend its a load of fun and everyone wants to fly lol. It’s a freaking chore at best most flights.

Out of pure necessity they need to create a larger than normal seat row somewhere in the plane. It doesn’t have to be first class as that’s generally cost prohibitive to most but certainly needs to be more than standard pricing. It’s extremely unfair to those passengers that don’t exceed the limitations of their own seat to have someone spilling into their’s. I realize the logistics of this are tricky.

Airlines won't require fat people to buy two seats, they will get sued with the quickness.

Is it not amazing how when you see "that guy" get on the plane and think "please God, no," he always sits down right next to you? Happens every time.
