They didn’t get away from their crimes. Many were prosecuted and killed and they haven’t had an offensive military since the war. That’s pretty harsh, to be honest.

They don’t. The Chinese remember.

In the US it’s slightly different because we used atomic bombs against them and glassed two cities and also firebombed the shite out of them. Japan started out bullying everyone and ended neutered by the U.S.

We killed a lot of them . We incinerated at least three cities ( Hiroshima, Nagasaki - atom bombs and Tokyo - firebombing)We hung a lot of them after the war. Towards the end of WWII the Japanese were being steamrolled all over the place. We were slaughtering them at Okinawa and nightly bombing raids over Tokyo and Yokahoma. The Chinese had gotten the upper hand on the mainland and then for good measure, the Russians invaded Manchuria towards the very end and just killed EVERYONE

The leader and his doctors did indeed get a pass. The US wanted their knowledge on biological warfare and gave them a pass.

Jocko Willinck just had a very good podcast on this very subject. It’s....sobering.

Those sick fricks from Unit 731 got off way too easy in exchange for their human experiment research. I believe McCarthur was the final say in granting them immunity, but they still should have been tried. Some of the things they did to Chinese and Russian civilians would have made Hitler blush.

A lot of bad stuff went down during WWII. Germany/Russia on the Eastern front is on par with any level of brutality.

There were mass rapes, mass executions, stuff that would make people turn pale if it was plastered on the front pages today.

I don't see the point in comparing what was the worst. Just point out some stuff was awful and condemn it on its own. Sliding scale does nothing with some of what happened in WWII.

The precursor to today’s rape culture on American college campuses where 85% of students are raped every day.

I thinking it's just badly worded and not full goldennugget.

But the Germans did take their live experiments from undesirables like Jews and gypsies using twins to make control groups and such. They also "simulated" (shot a terrified person) wounds and tried to repair them. So research, barbaric but research.

The Japs just took any random victim cut off a leg and left them to bleed out and called that research cuz someone might have had a pocketwatch.

fricking Japs.

Edit: and of course the undesirables being the Nazi POV.

Japanese just took their victims from everyone who was not Japanese.

this is correct. They wanted the medical records of the crazy shite they did

We did the same thing with the Germans. Read up on Operation Paperclip. Hell a Nazi built our space program.
