I think for many people it is a mental thing. On some level they just dont want to like sushi. There is nothing wrong with that.

As long as that is the case I dont think someone should force it on you.

Sushi is something you will love if you are open minded and try a few times with friends who love Sushi who know how to point you in the right direction.

the "I love my food cooked" crowd should not waste their time with it. You will always hate it.

What would you guess the ratio of regular fish houses to sushi bars in the US is? Gimme a break.

Carpaccio? Tartare? Ceviche? Crudo?

All stuff that is extremely common now in a variety of cuisines at many many many restaurants throughout the US and the world.

Raw meats and fish are found in almost every culture and cuisine.

Quit being a pussy.

Well, if you think sushi bars are more common than fish houses in the US, one of us certainly doesn't. You figure it out.

What is a "fish house"?

And why does one have to be more common than the other to be "common" nor not unusual?

As I said, there are raw meat preparations across cultures and cuisines.

It is not remotely uncommon.

You're just being obtuse. A restaurant that typically serves fried fish, most commonly catfish, but not necessarily. Almost always cooked, though.

Ok, so maybe you aren't being obtuse. Maybe you really don't know the definition of "facts" or the word "common" either.

Okay, tell ya what. Why don't you count the number of restaurants in the city or town you live in, then call them up and ask if there are any uncooked meat dishes they will slap on a plate and bring to your table. Let us know what you find.

I live in New Orleans so the number would be astronomical. ALmost every restaurant I go to would have some version of a crudo, ceviche, carpaccio, tartare, etc etc.

to me it's like most Az'n cuisine, got to be in the mood for it, and don't be starving, cause you'll be wanting WhataBurger about an hour after you've finished

If that is what a fish house is.....I would guess there are wayyyyy more sushi places around in Phoenix than a fish house.

Honestly, and people will say I am nuts, I bet the number would be close in NOLA.

There aren't as many "Fried fish places" as people think in NOLA and there is a sushi place on every other fricking corner.

If the answer to your question has absolutely no bearing on who is correct in this discussion, do you still want an answer?
