Why do so many people feel the need to film themselves going on some stupid rant?

And why do they think people actually care?
Whether it be about someone used their wrong pronouns or some bad date they went on or some bad customer service experience they had. Nobody cares!

the age of social media has given everyone a stage and with each like gives everyone a perceived audience. The average person reposting a news story feels like a news anchor, the average person posting an opinion feels like a renowned expert...it goes on.

The age of chivalry is gone; that of sophisters, economists, and calculators has succeeded

I remember seeing a friend post something during covid and started the video saying that they just had to make a video about it....i wondered how they would have dealt with it before social media.

When you figure that one out, explain to me why the poliboard needs to circle jerk 24/7.

Because we live in a narcissistic society thanks in part to social media, and people think that other people care about their musings on things, and they are validated by all the views and likes they receive.
Meanwhile us normies just have a stiff drink and rant to our partners and friends who are actually pretty tired of hearing us rant but let you rant anyway.

A lot of us view this phenomenon as bizarre (is it really a phenomenon if it's like 1/3 of the population?), but these people don't know how to do anything else.
The idea of having a weird experience at the grocery store and not talking about it on Tik Tok or whatever in the car afterwards just doesn't occur to them, they don't know how to process stuff in their life any other way.
Many of us remember life before social media, but a lot of these people don't. It's an integral part of how they function.

You make a valid point here. I'm older, when something weird happened to me I had to call a friend about it but during nights and weekends so as to not mess with their phone minutes.
