Nice watches and nice shotguns. Don’t “need” them but they are sure nice to have. Men with money like nice things too. When you can’t afford these things, you convince yourself how they are frivolous and you wouldn’t want one if you could afford it.

I can. I have also had a few nice ones in the past given as gifts. I wear them once a year for a wedding or funeral
Make sure they are properly insured and have them appraised every couple of years to update insurance. They are appreciating if they’re the correct watch watches.

An adult male caring about what another adult male wears is ridiculous.
It's funny because adult males are always criticizing other adult males for the vehicles they choose to drive, the shoes they choose the wear, or the house they choose to live in, and all kinds of other stuff, yet we can't question the purchasing and wearing of watches. They're off limits for some reason.

Mo Jeaux nailed it. Good job.

The main reason I where a watch is so I can holler "WATCH OUT" the the top of my lungs anytime I walk out a door.

Different strokes for different folks. I'm sure there's something you like that people think is stupid.

Plenty of people I know were buying watches before cell phones became mainstream
Plus, depending on where you work - you cannot always take out your phone to check the time

Dress primarily for comfort, so you may be right there
Love my wife
While I do enjoy watching football, I find beer mostly disgusting
Its not just watches, its most jewelry in general. No different than the folks that leave the tags on new clothes or hats when they wear them out. Just a fancier status symbol.
I can understand boomer's obsession with them, since they grew up without cell phones, but anyone under 40 is trying too hard.

High end watches hold their value pretty well and often appreciate. I have always worn a watch. I do enjoy high end watches...wearing a high end watch is night and day compared with something that is not high end.

I honestly don't care either way about them but my wife did buy me a nice one for Christmas so I will wear it.

I’ve got a daily wear that is just a leather band watch. Classic, simple, doesn’t hurt if I ever lost it.
I have two that were given to me from my parents that will go down to the generations after me. While I’m not a watch guy by any means, I appreciate a timeless piece of jewelry and moreso the sentiment in passing it on to the next generation.

An adult male wearing a watch is pretty cringe.
And I don't see any horns on you so you must be queer.

For the same reason women like nice jewelry. It’s a stylish accessory.
Why does it bother you that people want to look decent?
