I finally quit smoking a few years ago but was a 2 pack a day smoker. Coworker of mine smokes a pack a day and is a big CrossFit guy, even runs marathons. He’s in his mid 30s, but he will light up a cigarette walking back to his vehicle after leaving a marathon or done doing CrossFit and people rag him all the time

Meh, if that's what they want to do to keep themselves stimulated who are you, the guy who hasn't worked out in 10 years, to judge them?

Apparently your boring workout didn't keep you interested enough to keep doing it.

I'll always preach simplicity in the gym before anything, but sometimes you need to change it up to stay interested.

Do whatever motivates you to move. Don't worry about what other folks do.

About the only thing that makes me shake my head is the folks that crank up the incline on a treadmill but lean back and hold on to the display for dear life.

Gym clothes used to be sweats or shorts and a tank top.

Now you have to wear $150 worth of under armour or lululemon.

Damn man, I can't even fathom smoking that much. I'm usually awake 18+ hours each day, and I barely smoke a pack. My grandpa used to smoke three packs a day when he was younger, and said he basically didn't stop smoking all day.

When I was running, I smoked and had no problem. It didn't mess with my breathing at all

I go to Planet Fitness, and my two most annoying observations:

1. People that talk on the phone, and feel the need to talk as loudly as possible, as if we all are interested in their conversation.

2. People that jog around the gym, up and down the aisles, I guess in between reps. That's what the fricking treadmill is for dumb arse.

I do love how the idea of flipping a tire is somehow considered a complicated workout.

It is about as basic as it gets. It's just a tire. And you flip it. Very little equipment and equipment that we are all familiar with. Compare it to the equipment needed for bench press.

And it is an actual functional body movement workout, unlike the OPs bench press and curls.

The 40 year old mom of 3 gets way more use out of flipping a tire than bench press.

This is why I love work out threads on the OT.

hip thrusts,

I do these full well knowing they look homo but IDC how it looks as long as it works which it does.

I also have been using bands for blood flow restriction even though they look douchey. They work as well.

It's insane. I don't even notice what other people do at the gym much less what they wear but apparently I am in the minority.

I wish donkey calf raises would make a comeback. The things one will do to get that ‘angle’.
