Those things you described are places specifically designed for that hobby. You’re bar on the corner that happens to have a pool table isn’t specifically there for pool. Just like if it has a couple slot machines it isn’t a casino.

Top ten word that’s overused. OP sounds like you need to frequent pool halls where most folks bring their own.

Do you understand the difference between a pool hall and a bar with a table???

Probably because you suck at pool and you don't look the part. Do you have a glove too?

Because you are in a bowling alley.

just buy a Sneaky Pete stick that is a 2 piece that looks like a house stick
I’ll be damned if I compromise my self respect with some sneaky Pete charades.

Exactly this. I play a lot of darts and own several nice sets that I've used over the years and I never leave home to play darts without bringing my go-to set. Most dart bars have "house darts" that are those cheap, big fat brass darts with mismatched stems and flights. Playing with that is a level of frustration I'd rather not deal with.

To the bar???
Every dude brings his stick to the bar, just most of them don't play pocket pool at the bar.

If you're going to be that serious then you should probably just go to pool halls. That sort of thing is expected at those places. Pool halls' in house gear also tends to be better maintained.

completely different
House darts are usually in a solo cup, and you end up having to piece them together to find 6 darts you can even throw.
You can play pool with a broom stick.

Are you the guy who brings his putter to play put-putt?

When I was in h.s., my dad gave me the custom stick he bought when he was stationed at Schofield Barracks. It had some cool hula girls, dragons, palm trees, and flowers carved into the handle. It broke down, and made into a walking cane with a brass knob.
I took it to the "Chicken Place" in Farmerville, on the Ruston Hwy. a couple of times. Used to leave it in the back dash of my 73 Buick Regal. I think it liked when I played my Kool & the Gang 8-track, instead of ZZ Top Tres Hombres. Tres Hombres busted up some Pioneer speakers that were back there.
Can't get enough, off the funky stuff!
