That's why people don't like Flat Earthers. You have been told the Earth is round but watch any video on YouTube and they will convince you it is flat in 5 minutes.

Watch all the down votes from people with cognitive dissonance.

You can test this theory on the Poli Board. Go there and say something totally reasonable and objectively true but preface it by saying something like, "I'm a liberal and ..." If my theory is correct, the mob won't believe anything you say, and will call you a liar, not based upon what you actually say, but based upon who they assume you are.

Not really.

I'm a liberal and I get along fine over there. (Granted, it's because I share the prevailing dislike for the New Left and the GOPe, but I'll get upvote/downvoted based on the content of the post.)

The entire concept of Objective Truth has been under attack for decades (postmodernism, Cultural Marxism et al). People prefer Narratives because they don’t require intellectual rigor or consistency. And if you are concerned with objective truth you find yourself on a lonely island while The Narrative Mob is having a Twitter party with tits and booze and dancing little people. To really care about truth is lonely business.

Because the truth sometime interferes with them doing what ever they want. Especially religious truth. Regardless of the evidence, some people don’t want there to be a God because it would mean they are accountable to a “higher power.” Ask someone this question, “if Christianity was unquestionably proven to be true would you become a Christian?” Most is the time the answer is no just for this very reason.

Yeah now we are getting into Moral Relativism. We all struggle with that to one degree or another . It’s easy easy to rationalize yourself into trouble. I know ALL about that, lol.

Because some people hate to be wrong or they don't like the idea of a particular truth.

If I am wrong, I have no problem saying I was wrong.. But some people would rather make themselves look like a jackass than ever admit they were wrong.. I don't understand it.

What do you mean by “religious truth?” A story that teaches a life lesson but is not objectively fact?

The truth is nobody can prove whether or not a god or gods exist

You are talking about the Left here. They think they are right and everyone else is wrong. They love to judge others and try to force their beliefs onto others.

Left and right. Try telling some Christians in the right that it is not an objective fact that god exists, or that homosexual tendency is at least in part biological.

The truth is often accompanied by statistically supported stereotypes. No one likes being a stereotypical individual.

What evidence do you have that God does not exist?

The same can be said for pedophiles or beastility or dementia or schizophrenia. Even if you can prove that it is genetic it still does not mean it is normal.

Which fits perfectly with what Masterag said, there is no objective fact there, only belief.

95% of our country just want comfort not truth. Anything that shakes their world view they would rather just ignore.

It's why we have such a high church going population but so few actual Christians. They just want to hedge their bets in case there is an afterlife but they don't really believe in anything.
