I guess it's the same reason why some people start talking with an accent when talking to someone who speaks English as a second language. Like it's going to make things easier for them to understand.

Humans who aren’t sociopaths tend to reflect the posture/speech patterns/tone of those around them. In this example, it’s called code switching. Now, some people go too far and move into pandering, but that’s a separate issue.

So glad I removed you from my top 5 douchiest poster list. Lesson learned in first OT E-impressions.

It’s sad that sounding uneducated is considered cool nowadays. This can be traced back to the Chronic album dropping. It all went downhill after that record went mainstream.

I have to admit it's a bizarre concept to me as well but they're free to talk how they want and I'll talk how I want.
We have a hispanic lady at work and she talks in her normal hispanic voice all the time except when she goes on break with her black counterpart. Then the hood talk comes out. Funny thing is, the black counterpart doesn't talk hood. Or jive as you call it.

I also notice this with country slang; people who normally speak eloquently turn into pseudo hicks around those speaking that way. Accent and all.

OP's definitely full of shite.
With that being said, I'm still surprised by the number of people who still don't know that code switching is a thing and/or act surprised when it happens.
