I personally dont want to be Euthanasia’d when I’m older so I support extra benefits for the old. Karma would frick me good if I said otherwise.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) pretty much doubles standard deductions for all filing statuses—the standard deduction you can claim before you claim the extra bonus deduction for being age 65 or older. These deductions will be in place from 2018 through at least 2025:

Let me help. First, this "extra bonus" deduction you're concerned about is $1600. Your standard deduction (if single) is $12,000, (married $24,000). And an additional $1,600 of tax exempt money??... ..at the age when corporations, employers, etc., expect you cease working, no longer have income, and must survive strictly on what you've been able to save.. ..after you've most likely providing for and supported a family.. ..this somehow bothers or confuses you??

Just give me your age, amount of your current net worth....or amount of savings/liquid-expendable equity you'd have after paying off all of your debt... then subtract the entirety of all living expenses you'd likely incur for the next 15-20 years without any income....and I'll explain to you exactly why "old people" get a (mere pittance of a) tax break.

Millennials are utterly parasitic. Generation of bitchers and takers. It’s disgusting how they are fixated on what everyone else has.

This little twit hasn’t thought twice about how much of his parents income went to raising his little arse. And once they are retired and don’t have a regular income, he doesn’t even want to give them the benefit of a minuscule tax cut. Typical, typical millennial POS. Selfish, self-centered, and worried about everyone else maybe having more.

Real question is why do the rich get tax breaks and why do you guys keep voting people into office who give them the tax breaks?

Because states want retirees to move in and spend their nest egg.

.....Because when you are no longer employed or employable your income is less.
If you are college educated and have a degree please return it.

Is it a “break” when the thief steals a little bit less of your money than he’s originally planned?

Why do people with kids get tax breaks? They should pay more to support schools and all the health and social programs for kids.

Instead, the government is like, “You had another kid? Here, let us knock more off your taxes. Keep cranking them out.”
