re: Why do middle-low class people love flashy things?

Most expensive watches aren’t flashy at all, and you’d have no clue how much they cost unless you knew about watches. They also hold their value, and often appreciate. Not really the same as buying an 8 year old Mercedes and throwing rims on it.
Also not much different than baws spending 30k on side by sides

Same way flashy fishing lures attract fish with peanut brains I always figured

You can sleep in your car, but you can't drive your house.

quote:Yes, Mr Executive, because people that live in those communities pay hundreds monthly to ensure that crap doesn't happen.
Drive to any nice part of town or gated community and you see NONE of that.
You can hear the stereo from my shop outside of it when the weather permits, but it's 500 feet off the road. My neighbors can't hear it so who cares.

Conspicuous wealth. They know that no one in the neighborhood has the means by which to secure traditional education or employment, so it's their way of broadcasting they nevertheless have the means/might to successfully secure money and resources above and beyond their common brethern.

Same reason they talk on speaker in the grocery checkout line.

I have LED lights in my classroom.

Modified pickups are way more popular in the crappy neighborhoods. Especially the leveled/squatted kind with no mufflers or loud exhaust.
And I have started to associate Mercedes Benz products with over leveraged low income car buyers now. The brand feels less special to me after seeing so many poorly maintained examples with cheap modifications.

Why don’t you ask your shitty trailer park neighbors instead of a bunch random people on a message board?

Poor people like to give the illusion of wealth.
Not new news.
Not new news.

Trucks that have a non-stock exhaust (or missing muffler) provided an audible warning of an approaching dumbass.

This is funny because I was bullshitting with a friend awhile back and I don't know how we got on the subject, but in order to keep this post not racist he mentioned a certain group of people will do anything for something shiny.
There is more detail to the story than that, but this thread makes me think it might be more of a class thing than anything.
Also, there are the vehicle window stickers and tshirts when people die.
Gary Own has a bit on this. It starts at the 2:32 mark.

So, it’s like the stealth wealth described earlier? Just seems strange to me, but to each his own. I buy far too many albums lately.

Different strokes for different folks. I collect watches and firearms. They both are pretty good investments historically.

So are cars if you buy the right ones and care for them.

I collect those too. But this board is a retard echo chamber and looks at everything in a vacuum.
