Why do middle-low class people love flashy things?

I’ve always been amazed at this.
You drive through any low rent, run down neighborhood and you see: gold, oversized rims on vehicles, oversized gawdy jewelry, overdone LED lights all over businesses, etc.
You drive through any trailer park or blue collar part of town and damn near every vehicle is modified. Big tires, Loud mufflers, vulgar bumper stickers, etc. Opinionated flags flying.
You can typically hear loud music playing in both type neighborhoods coming from somewhere.
Drive to any nice part of town or gated community and you see NONE of that. If you do it’s usually just some random teenager.
Why is the middle to low class always dumping large sums of money into low class things? Why is there such an interest difference when crossing the tracks. It’s all self induced which boggles my mind.
Help BabyTac understand why this is???

BabyTac can help himself by minding his own business

Add Mardi Gras parades and adults wearing stupid outfits to this list.

They’re the only ones who realize life is short. Get the truck nuts when you can

Biff and Muffy are content with their two $120,000 each vehicles hidden safely away from your sensitive eyes in the garage.

Poor folks flaunt on social media like they’re rich.
Rick folks make TikToks about “sustainable living” and shite like they’re some early 1800’s yeoman farmer in West Virginia.
What a world.

to make themselves more marketable in the areas that they can afford.

People are trying to show off their status, and impress the people around them.
Showing off works differently depending on your class though. If you’re poor, it might be having a big truck, if you’re upper class, it’s the act of not showing off, you might wear something without a logo for example.

The same reasons morons bob and weave thru bumper to bumper traffic just to gain 20 seconds.
Low IQ trash is everywhere.

I’m amazed every time I read one of those OT watch threads. Nothing screams “flashy” like the need to own a $10k+ watch.

Blue collar and Upscale have little to do with income level.

They just want people to think highly of them.
Kind of like you when you pretend to be an executive.

It’s funny to me when I see Cadillac Escalades, Lexus, Mercedes, etc. lined up in driveways outside of trailers. I don’t care, I just find it amusing.

I've always felt like it's due to low IQ, poor development. Look at any toddlers toy box...it's full of flashing, really colorful loud toys. An under developed brain requires a lot of stimulation no matter what age it is.
Case and point.
FWIW I think this is the same reason low class people do loud things: blare music, start screaming matches for nothing, talk on a blaring loud speaker phone. Brain needs to be stimulated and normal adult activities don't do it.

Jeff Foxworthy did a skit on this in the 90’s with glittery bass boats.
