Don't think just because you got 12 years in that you found the right woman. I got about 15 good years before she turned into a total count.
Reality is the system is rigged against the men. Men are generally more committed than the women because the men have so much more to lose. In a divorce the man will usually lose his home, half his crap, custody of his children, and will be on the hook for crippling child support/alimony payments to support his former wife's lifestyle. The woman generally gets a long-term meal ticket with no real impact to her standard of living. Any wonder most divorces are initiated by women?

I think both men and women have issues with commitment now… both have no problem tanking a marriage for a perceived better deal

If you want to start a family... marriage is the best way to do that.
