Why do Louisiana people feel the need to park half their vehicle on the grass?

Growing up there it was a common thing. Now living in Texas, I have two La friends and every time they come over they have to stick two of the tires on the grass killing my lawn esp if it’s wet. Guy dog sitting recently for a week left a rut since everyday he came over he’s driving half his car on my lawn.

La guy I play golf with pulls the cart up to every tee box and green putting half the cart on the grass mashing down the plush course.

I’ve only noticed this with people from La. Is this a trashy thing or just an ignorance issue with the shitty education system?

Because parking the whole vehicle on the grass is trashy.

2 wheels in the grass is better than parking your vehicle in a driving lane. Still dont understand that.
(But yeah, you should just put your wheels on the curb fwiw)

the big mystery is, who gathered all those remarkably different cultures together and taught them all how to park their cars on their lawns?

They're probably just trying to be courteous to the rest of the people driving down the street.

Typically they do this when on the driveway as well. Makes zero sense.

pull off into the grass in SLa. most days and you're gonna be stuck like Chuck. Its always wet. Pull up halfway and you still have some traction (hopefully) while trying to make a little extra room.

But frick screwing up my lawn. Keep all 4 tires on the pavement if you're gonna leave a rut.

I'll answer your question for you. I grew up in Old Goodwood in Baton Rouge. The streets in the neighborhood are not wide enough to accommodate full vehicle parking on the street and enough room for vehicle travel between two street parked cars. So, people would park, as you say, half way on and half way off to give enough room for vehicle travel on the street. The streets in my Texas neighborhood are quite a bit wider and allow for street parking and vehicle travel.

Tell the owner of your trailer park to spread some limestone along the side of the road. That will eliminate the weeds you call "your lawn".

Why do Houston people park in a travel lane in front of a building. I never saw people do this before I spent a week visiting family in Houston.

It’s a state where you can go out on any given weekend and roughly 70% of the males will have fishing shirts tucked into jeans with boots. That may have something to do with it.
