Unless there's a robot moving the clothing from the washer to the dryer, I fail to see how this means anything.
If I have to physically be there to put the clothing into the dryer, I've done all I need. Set it to max dry time and nothing further is needed.

I don't care how much tech you cram into a clothes dryer, it will always be a bad idea to run that dryer when you aren't at home.

Get the simple Speed Queen model and your welcome.
The Government doesn't need to know what kind of drawers you wear.

So they can break faster and you are forced to buy a new one or pay for repairs

Y’all don’t like the “Lint Filter Needs Attention” text?
Also the coin sorting and rolling feature is nice.

Tell your wife that's what the timer on the dryer is for.

When we moved 15 years ago we had to buy a new washer/dryer, since we couldn’t take the stack unit with us. We got a basic Kenmore washer/dryer set. No frills. 15 years later, we just had the washer ‘hot wired’ (bypass the lid switch) and the repair guy told us that as long as there are parts available, just repair. I’m so glad we decided not to buy fancy front loaders when we moved.

You can do it at work, etc. it’s like a lot of conveniences. It seems unnecessary until you use it. There was a time when people thought remotes were unnecessary for TVs because they TV was only a few feet away.
Do what at work? Turn it on? Why not do that when you put the wet clothes in the damn thing?

You got alerts on the older model...when they stopped working.

My LG washer connects to wifi. Only useful thing about it is it lets me know when the load is done. I get busy with shite around the house and usually forget I have clothes in the washing machine.

Just more crap to break

It allows you to start, stop, and extend cycles remotely with your phone.
Why would I need to do any of that with my phone?
I only start the dryer when I'm physically putting clothes into it
I only need the dryer to stop if it's done its job or I need to physically go to it to get something out if it
I'll never extend my dryer cycle unless I'm physically at the dryer to make the judgment that the clothes aren't dry and need more time

Mama taught me to never leave the clothes dryer running when you leave the house. You will burn the house down

So you can be reported to Comrade Biden & Harris for sucking too many Watts to dry clothes, thus causing climate change. There'll be a dryer tax for you.

quote:I have a basic Whirlpool about the same age, and every now and then it'll start shooting water in the tub again after the spin cycle, as if it's about to start a whole new wash cycle. It only does it for a few seconds, but it's enough to drench the clothes.
I still like the old(er) tech on washers and dryers. We have an 8ish year old Maytag Centennial washer that has always given us some trouble with not going into the wash cycle. Usually, it would if you put it to drain and restarted it, but the other day it wouldn't even do that.
So, I googled how to reset it. The not-so-secret combo is: Unplug it, leave it unplugged for 1 minute, plug it back in, then, you have 30 seconds start the next step, lift the lid at least two inches and close it fully, do this six times within 12 seconds. Now, your washer is reset.
I thought it was bullshite, but after it drained I pulled it out from the wall and did the reset, it worked fine. It has washed three loads since with no issues, working better than it has in a couple years.
The "fix" is to just tap the knobs a few times with a screwdriver handle. After that it works fine again for months, maybe a year.

So you can spend more money. They haven’t really improved on washer dryer tech is 40 years.
Front load washers suck. They mildew and don’t get your clothes clean.
Dryers are a rotating drum and heating element. That’s it.

So your usage can be recorded.

It’s a pos. I threw that pos away after 2 years. Now have a 500 dollar no frills Maytag dryer downstairs that is awesome and a 1000 commercial no frills speed queen upstairs that’s awesome.
I am done with all that stupid shite u will never use that breaks and totals out the dryer, fridge, dishwater, etc in 2 years right after warranty expires and cost over 1000 bucks.
The only damn thing I like is the feature that steams out your shirts etc in 10 minutes. That is useful.
