I mean I am too, but you have to get with the times. You'd be surprised how many good looking women are on dating apps, and I'm looking strictly at 27-34yr olds.

Zoom cocktail hours
yeah no. I meet them at the bar 1 minute from my house and spend $10 beers. In person vibe is a thing

shite, if you're near a college town, go down to 20. It's pretty crazy. You have to sift through a lot of trash, but these days, basically every woman sub-30 who is single is on some form of dating app.

I just don’t understand it. Why make me think you look good when you can actually bench three plates.

Reality is, most single women don't go out in public in a setting where you could hit on them unless they're with friends. Which means probably not very often.

It is easier to hit on people the old fashioned way when you're 22 and people still go out all the time. Not so easy when you're 32 and your friends are married and busy raising children.

I love going sit at the bar by myself at one of my favorite spots, but I am there enough that it is very clear most women do not feel the same way. You rarely see it.

I will go out to drink regardless. If I like the woman, I'll pay for her. If not, my baws know the signal for a split bill. I just can't imagine doing a virtual date before going out with someone. Some snapchats, sure, but I have better things to do on my computer than talk to some rando. Like posting on TD.

So you feel like talking to a random on a video call from the comfort of your living room is more difficult than schleping to some bar to meet said rando in person? I guess I disagree there.

She's expecting you to engage in a sunk cost fallacy.

Most people (both men and women) think much more highly of themselves than others do.

On dating apps female egos are extremely disproportionate to their actual attractiveness.

Not more difficult, no. It's just an entirely different kind of interaction. I will go out regardless of having a date, so trying to do an *extensive* pre-screening seems silly to me.

One or two times I was actually able to knock out two zoom dates in the same evening. It's a numbers game. Get to see what they really look like, get a sense for if they're a moron or not, profit. Move to in person after zoom date if it goes well with some confidence in investing the time/effort.

I agree with you. I’m happily married, but you baws need to catch up the game. Not to mention you can do 3-4 video calls a night before you commit to going out. Narrow your odds down to someone more favorable.

I mean back in my day I’d be AIMing all kinds of chicks on Friday night .

I also think OP is likely giving himself too much credit here and shooting for the big leagues when he likely is still in double A ball.

I don't FaceTime or video myself or even post selfies. I would be super uncomfortable with a Zoom date.

Man, I'm pretty extroverted and charming around women, but no way I could do a zoom date. That seems extremely forced to me.

I'm 42, so this was my first time on the apps...but I figured it out pretty quickly. It was good times. Only downside, if you could call it that, my girlfriend is the first one I met in person, so I didn't get to go out and bang a bunch of chicks before finding her.
