Why do filled king cakes exist?

I am tired of walking into bakeries to buy a regular king cake only to find out that they are sold out of regular ones. Instead, I am met with shelves full of cream cheese or Bavarian cream king cakes (yuck) which obviously nobody wants to buy, judging by the number sitting on the shelves. I don't get it.

Cream cheese is fine on a bagel. It is nasty inside of a king cake. I have too many horror stories growing up, taking a bite into a king cake only to be met with the nastiness of cream cheese.

These aren't King Cakes. Some of them may be delicious, some may be terrible. But they are not King Cakes.
I find it offensive.
Equally offensive is giving them different colors and selling them outside of carnival season.
King Cakes aren't filled and they are available from January 6th until Mardi Gras day.

Just buy some grands cinnamon rolls and out colored icing on them if that’s what you want.
It will cost way less.

You might not like it, but that’s why we don’t have a dictatorship to determine which king cakes get made and which ones don’t.
Maybe be less of a self righteous prick who has disdain for other reasonable choices people make and your life will become more fulfilling
