What are you talking about? epipens are free. Ask anyone on welfare what they pay for an epipen.
If you are a tax-paying, contributing member of society, you are required to pay for those who do not contribute. What is so hard to understand?

because people who need epipens will pay and people who need narcan won’t pay

My favorite conspiracy theory is that drug addicts take opioids and have lots of other pharmaceutical habits, produced by big pharma, and if they die, they can't take drugs anymore, so narcan keeps em ticking.
That’s not a conspiracy theory, it’s a business plan.

I suppose dying is the greatest high.

Ask John Kerry and his daughter. He used his Senate influence to block epipen competitors from getting approval to hit market. Meanwhile, his daughter was CEO of the company making epipens. She raised the price from around $1 to hundreds of dollars.
I thought was the "pragmatic" Joe Manchin and his daughter. Not trying to defend Lurch, he has screwed up plenty of things.

In the end we will answer for our transgressions, but some answers will be more difficult than others.

Because people will pay for epi pens to keep loved ones and themselves alive.
Governments will pay for narcan to keep death numbers under their watch down.

I really doubt people on welfare have allergies since they don’t raise their kids in a bubble

Homeless can't afford peanuts but can afford dope. Have to protect the vulnerable population.
Admin can you put that in the sarcasm font please.

I mean to be fair --- my godchild was exposed to a lot of things (dogs, peanut, milk, eggs, etc) she's unfortunately just allergic to life as we call it in my family.
But having an epipen everywhere is fricking expensive.

I paid $20 for a pack of 2 earlier this year. No where close to $800. I remember one time I had to buy an emergency pack of EpiPens, like 15 years ago, out in the middle of the country, and didn’t have insurance, and they were like $300. Like all other medicines or prescriptions, if you have insurance, you usually don’t have to pay much at all. If you don’t have insurance, then you’ll have to pay the full cost.

They don't cost $800 if you use GoodRx.

I guess I should clarify
When I say can pay I mean there is a way for someone to get money out of the situation
When I say can't pay I mean that the majority of the time its for addicts and there is no juice to squeeze

Yep
When your "customers" are, primarily, junkies, it's unlikely they will be willing to pay much for your product. So you have to subsidize it by charging people who will pay. Many people who own epipens have children at risk for severe allergic reactions. A good parent will pay almost any amount to make sure their child is safe. The heroin addict just wants to pay for heroin (only because the dealer won't give it to him/her for free). He/she is not paying for narcan.
Posted on 10/23/24 at 10:06 am to RaoulDuke504
Because people won’t pay for Narcan, but they will for epipens. No self-respecting crackhead is going to pay money for that.

It’s called deflection. Policy wise no one wants you to look at how fit all and the other opiates get into the country. Rather, they want you to hear about all of the “good“ that they do by providing free Narcan.
