People make dumb decisions all the time.

I'm more concerned with the "couples" who aren't married and create kids they have no intention of raising- that eventually become everyone's problem.

People’s priorities are very off. But we insensitivize that behavior by making it socially acceptable and the govt by stealing from the rest of us.

You should receive no financial help for having kids, not even a tax break. That would force people back into reality, make them become better parents by waiting until they’re ready and the people who would have 4 or 5 and living off the govt wouldn’t be able to afford to do it.

The people you’re talking about specifically either have the govt or family and friends who enable this irresponsible behavior, or both.

2 years ago i saw a dude put up a gofundme for in vitro. Looking for like 30k if you can't afford that, kids ain't any fricking cheaper.

The frick? Kids are in fact cheaper than forking over a $30k fee to a fertility clinic. How often does something come up with your kids that requires you to pay $30k? It's certainly possible to be able to afford raising a child but not have access to $30k

So you have 30k sitting in your savings that you can pay for something right away? IVF isn’t cheap and usually isn’t covered by insurance. And...you have to pay ALL the costs upfront before you get started. We took out a loan to do IVF. We had to make a payment to the clinic the day we signed all our consents for treatment. And then we would pay the pharmacy thousands of dollars for meds once we started our IVF cycle.

That was last May. They basically are sitting on that money we paid them until I’m medically cleared to start IVF.

We are a one income family and that one income is pretty average. We have 4 kids. By some folks definition on here we probably can’t affird that many kids but we make it work. Kids are hard but awesome. It’s about priorities.

We raised two on one income for the most part (wife started working a few years ago after they both hit teen years). Never been on assistance. And my income wasn't extravagant, at least nothing near the numbers that some people on this board think you should have to raise kids. It cracks me up to see people claim you need to make six figures. I may not have been able to do or buy everything I've ever wanted but my kids have always had everything they need.

Just 1 kid... we gonna ignore the high rates of multiple birth involved with in vitro? My twin nephews are deaf. Within the first year way over 30k in costs.

What about parents that naturally have multiples? Or have a special needs child?

They shouldn't try to have children unless they can pay thousands and thousands of dollars all at once in costs in case they have a special needs child? Cause then that would take out a massive amount of people.

Were you able to have kids on your own naturally? If so..kindly shut the frick up and just be glad you didn't have to go down this fricked up painful road in life.

The more children you have the better chances you have that one becomes a millionaire. Just like buying more than one ticket for Powerball - math checks out

This couple I know has been married a little over a year. The wife doesn’t have a real job but does hair and makeup. The husband works at a plant. Now that they’ve had the baby the wife is complaining to my SO about being worried about money.

Those complaints about being worried about money are kind of bullshite though. If both those parents are working consistently it's not like they aren't going to be able to provide basic needs. Hell that child is likely being born into more "wealth" than 80-90 percent of babies on earth. She's likely worried about not having enough money for frivolous bullshite.

This started in the black families and has passed on to white families. What it comes down to, these so called Mom's or Dad's are there a very little bit and those kids are pushed on the grand Mom's/Paw's. This crap started back in the mid 1970's and has progress over the years. Another reason welfare is broke.

My wife and I knew what we could afford and only had two kids. Hind sight, wished I would of had 6.

Kids make some people feel loved or that they have power. I don't know the exact psychology. But, some people want kids and have no business having them.

I think some people don't have many friends so they have kids instead. Then at least you can force them to do stuff with you. Also, mothers LOVE the attention their little shits get when at church and the grocery store. Attention by association.

I think a lot of the time people doing this stupid shite do it because they're having marital issues and think having another kid will bring them closer together (which, of course, it never does). That or religion.
