Why do “certain people” put a space between punctuation marks?

Examples: “Just ate an ekcellent diner at Roux 61 . Would recomend !”
“Who Dat baby !”
Do they mostly do this on accident or do they do this because they think this is correct punctuation?
It genuinely pisses me off and I don’t understand how this bs started. It seems like this trend started a few years ago through social media and has rapidly increased into a mind blowing mass of stupidity.
