With everything being USB now, what's the point/advantage of a lighter plug?

All of the things like air compressors, spot lights, etc. that run on that plug would be useless without one.

Because men sometimes go out, play pool, get drunk and on the way home stop by a CEFCO and buy a pack of Marlboro Mediums.

Good point. why not just have a built in power inverter like the Dodge Ram has ?

Again, that's all USB now

I plug a 150 watt inverter into mine. Having 110 in your truck is convenient. It also has a 2.1 amp USB charger built in.

One time my son and I were stuck in our car with nothing but a can of alphabet soup. Thankfully we were able to use the cigarette lighter to heat up the can.

ETA: Some of you have obviously never seen A Goofey Movie

This I never understood. Even if you're a trashy smoker why would you want to keep your ashes inside the car?

If you've purchased a car in the last 5 years, they tend to have both. The lighter socket gives you 15 amps while a USB port typically does 1-2 amps at most.

Lay the can on the defrost and crank the heat.

One time my wife and I were stuck in our car and used the cigarette lighter as a butt plug. Sure, it kept us warm on that frigid night, but we never got the smell out of the car. :/

It wouldn't take long to phase that shite out, though.

I would love to know what rock you crawled out from. Smoking was a very normal thing just 12 years ago in most places.
