I always smash into the right hand side door only to find out it’s locked when leaving a gas station or convenient store.

The mindset of walking on the right side of a sidewalk and walking through a right hand door is shamefully falling by the wayside.

I’m pretty sure it’s some sort of safety violation. It makes me insane.

Might be to prevent shoplifting. No idea if it actually helps.

This is done because the employees are too lazy to unlock the other door.

If this is true, someone needs to smash their face on the door and Morris Bart these mother frickers.

Laugh at dumbasses that run into the locked door.

Great question.

I go to open the door on the right to follow the basic rules of life that we are taught growing up only to be met with a locked door.

It’s for shoplifting reasons. It make a shoplifter have to make a split second decision when running out the door. I’ve seen many hit the door and fall back. Have you ever noticed in Department stores that the stagger the doors?

We did that when i worked at bennigans just to laugh at people. And by we, fellow employees did that. I had way more creative ways to laugh at the public.

Wouldn't it be more wise to lock the left door then? In shoplifting, the escape is key. Going out in a normal fashion isn't that much of a deterrent.

Usually because a short person is working that can’t lift the latch at the top of the other door.

I’ve developed a strategy, I reach for both doors.

It would, but the doors usually don’t lock that way. One side is a latch pin design and the other side is the key/barrel lock.

Doesn't stop me. When I shoplift I run fast enough to crash through the glass like a James Bond villain.
