Thailand

they shut down the border
the shut down business
they wear mask and distance
they live in an environment with a king
they are just now opening

less testing yes.....but comment from my brother last week..... he is living in there

"Thailand has about 70 million people. They have had 3,171 cases (3056 recovered and 57 in hospitals and 58 deaths). They have gone 36 days without any local transmission of a case. "

and as soon as they open (Especially internationally), spread will occur again

just like what SK is facing

Same way China got a lid on it, shite is always breaking out there so they had mask and a populace compliant in wearing them and self isolating, also see South Korea.

When shite starts they just do as told and dont make it about muh freedom like the mouth breathers among us in the USA.

Funny that the more freedom a country has and the more available healthcare the higher infection rates got aint it, in all those above if you get sick you die, end of story.

I am living and working in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. When I got here last June you would see people with masks on because they were getting over a cold or flu. Now it is easily 99% of the population wearing masks. When they locked down for two months it was a true lockdown with the population obeying the government guidelines or else.

The country has mostly opened back up except for bars until the end of August. Presently to enter a business I have to scan a QR code and enter name, phone number and confirm I have had no contact with COVID. I am then thermal scanned or step in front of a thermal camera to enter.

So masks work so well, yet these airborne viruses usually start and spread rapidly in mask wearing Asia

Bang up science there

I've been to Vietnam, it was very rare to see an obese person, even among old people. I'm sure they don't test nearly as much but it makes a difference.

they have opened..but most tourist areas staying close cause no business

foreigners need to isolate for 14 days
citizens were limited to 1000 a day coming back ,isolated and tracked..they are increasing that number...

.... will be interesting to watch......

Genetically similar to Chinese, Covid was built by the Chinese not to kill Chinese at the same rate.

I’ve seen YouTube videos of the Chinese welding people into their apartments to keep them in quarantine. To think an insane amount of Chinese didn’t die is absurd.

Vietnam has a mandated 14 day qt for people coming into their country.

My family member passed away on May and my mom couldn't go back home because of that and the # of flights coming in and out is substantially reduced.

As Mark Twain said:

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”

Thank you for your post - early aggressive public health policies albeit draconian by western countries’ standards is the correct answer

Thank you. I really can't believe some of our fellow Americans act like they don't know the answer to this as soon as the narrative fits theirs. The answer to any question from one of those nations is BECAUSE THEY TOLD YOU SO... no questioning state info.

I live in South east Asia, Indonesia to be specific. Late to the party for testing main reason. Mask wearing about 50-50, social distancing pretty much non existent here. The government is testing, but not at the rate of the western nations. Currently the country is around 75,000 cases with around 3500 deaths. These numbers are off the top of my head. A lot of people here think the virus has been here before the start of the year, thanks China. A lot of people think this is no more than another strain of flu. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of people that are also freaking out over it. What I have said about here pretty much applies to the other countries in question.

Nothing to refute why airborne viruses seem to spark up and spread in mask wearing Asia?
