Until it completes its transformation into Austin North, I would agree that DFW is the better region.

Downtown and Uptown Dallas are a hell of a lot safer than Downtown and Uptown New Orleans

Even that is bogus. Uptown and downtown NOLA are plenty safe. why? Cause white people with money live there.

The unsafe areas in NOLA are: parts of midcity, parts of the east, all of central city, and the riverside portions below florida ave of the 7th, 8th, and 9th wards.

So what about all the crime in the quarter and Canal St. (some of which is in daylight)?

I think it's generally understood Dallas is a way better city than NOLA. Doesn't smell like urine on every street corner.

you'll never see a Dallas restaurant in New Orleans,

What exactly is a "Dallas restaurant"? Applebees?

Dallas has no soul and no culture of their own. Any culture they have, like all the concrete and half their drinking water, is imported from somewhere else.

More hyperbole.

But for entertainment...what are your measurements?

1) I enjoy living here.

2) My family is here. I enjoy my family and having them around as much as I want.

That's all I need.

1) Again, there are a ton of things to do in DFW. However, that view is subjective to the views of each individual.

2) Home is 1hr 15 min flight from DFW -> MSY away.

How often do you, in Texas, hear about a shooting on Canal St or in the quarter?

Because every single one makes the national news. So if you hear about two a year, it's because there are only two a year.

And even then, the vast majority of it is people who have beef with each other, or drug deals gone bad. The only random people who ever get shot here are the ones in the crossfire, which I admit, is terrible, but also rare.

Having even the smallest amount of street sense means it is highly, highly, HIGHLY unlikely you will ever have an issue here.

Dallas happens to be a Chili's town. The original was on Greenville Ave.

Basically what I was referring to as well. You can't say that you would feel comfortable walking the streets of the quarter at night. It is way safer to traverse uptown and downtown Dallas at night than it is to walk around downtown Nola.

By the way I'm from New Orleans and I love it to death. I'm just speaking from past and current experiences. I worked at a hotel on Bourbon Street before moving to Dallas.

It's really only 50-60 minutes and the flights are cheap as hell. It's the only thing that makes me okay with living away from my entire family. I can hop on a quick cheap flight whenever I need to if anything goes wrong back at home.

All the time, because we are on Tigerdroppings all the time lol. All of my family still lives in Nola so I hear it all. It's not about the shootings, but the random muggings and robberies as well.

I've spent time in DFW. Not saying it's not nice... I prefer the FW over the D. But the things to do there aren't things that get me real excited!

"Hey mom, can the kids come spend tonight at your house, my wife and I just got free tickets to a show"

"Hey dad, a buddy just dropped off 3 dozen crabs he caught this morning, wanna come over tonight and boil and drink beer"?

"Hey grandpa, thanks for coming to all 9 of my daughter's softball games this season over a 5 week period of midweek games. My daughter appreciated seeing you in the stands every game".

Flights don't work for that.

Actually they do lol....

1) There are roughly 4 flights to MSY a day from DFW and were not even counting Love Field.

2) You can be at each of those occasions every time if you had the $$ (which tickets are cheap anyway) to do this.

I won't defend NOLA/BR, but Dallas is hot as balls in summer, frigid in winter, and overrun with too many damn Texans.

Now you are just being stupid. When my kids have stuff, it's the need for my family to come to me, not me to to go to my family. My family cannot afford 9 round trip tickets for softball games that last an hour, nor can they afford to hop on a plane for a last minute trip.

You are missing the entire point. I want my family around to support my children and have them involved in their life.

And if I was having to fly back and forth 50 times a year, what the heck quality of life is that... not to mention... it would eat up all the additional money i would make in DFW. Gotta board the dogs, gotta get to and from airport, etc etc etc
