I know it's not being too widely discussed but we're up to what, 8-10 people saying GOAT and 0 complaints? That's about as unanimous as a conversation on here gets

am willing to pay a lil more to shop there because no other grocery chain that I have ever shopped at comes close to Publix's meat and seafood depts
I shop at Publix every single week, but never purchase meat or seafood. Their meat & seafood departments are some of the worst around.

I've shopped at Publix when I lived in Florida and I wasn't particularly impressed with them. The HEB stores in Texas are much better .

Their sandwiches are the shite

It's not difficult to find a good sandwich in Louisiana.

Not knocking Publix, but there is a lot of pretty good local competition in the grocery market in south Louisiana. It's probably not seen as worth investing in a new distribution center and an expensive new location only to get their asses handed to them by Rouses, Alexander's, LeBlanc's, etc...not to mention the big chains like Whole Foods, Winn Dixie, or Trader Joe's.

Grocery is typically a low margin business. There isn't a lot of room for risk. Expansions are very deliberate and careful.

Maybe public don't want to come here. Many businesses are regional in their approach.

There was a strong rumore of Publix building a distribution center here in Mobile a few years ago but it never happened. The biggest Publix I've ever been in opened up a mile from me with another about 2 miles in the other direction. A Rouses was supposed to go in nearby as well but didn't.

Have to give a shout out to Rouses. I was very impressed with the only Rouses I've been in. The one in Gulf Shores is very nice. Excellent meat, seafood, bakery, and fresh food sections. That one is every bit as nice as any of the Publix I've been in.

Kroger and Publix are the 2 main grocery stores in Nashville. For me the prices run about the same but Publix is a lot nicer inside.

Publix is very high priced. The founder's daughter lives in a house with a six foot wide copper medallion in the drive way, marble statues around the pool, and she married an Italian prince. He reportedly had less money than her.

They do not pay their employees much but have a great stock option plan that works real good for you if you work there long term.

Rouses Epicurian markets are comparable to Publix IMO. Don't have any experience with HEB or Wegmans

Publix stores and no state income tax are about the only two things the state of Florida has going for it. Publix is great, the best grocery chain I've ever encountered.

Wrong... we have mainly Publix, Kroger, and Ingals here in Georgia and all 3 have redeeming aspects.

When I go home to Louisiana with the family, one of the things my wife loves is the Rouses Supermarkets. We end up in Thibodaux and she goes nuts over the Super Rouses down there on Bayou Lafourche! Rouses Rocks.

No they weren't.

We have two Publix within a mile of our house. Just an example of how expensive they are.....A head of romaine, red leaf lettuce or green leaf lettuce is .99 at Krogers and Walmart. Publix: $2.50

Publix definitely more expensive than others. The one thing that Publix does have though that I rank ahead of others is a good bakery.

Kroger gets most of our business and it does not hurt that they have a sweet Fuel Points program and pumps at the location nearest us. Wife and I wait until it gets up to like 70 cents off per gallon and then fuel both vehicles up together.

Publix has a ridiculous amount of market share in FL. They can charge higher prices than all of the other stores. Anyone who thinks publix isn't the most expensive is delusional
