In my experience, HEB does beat Publix in price. Publix has them on service and possibly cleanliness, but both stores are usually pretty great. The cheapest big grocery chain I've shopped at was probably WinCo, but you have to bag your own groceries. All that said, Wegmans is easily the GOAT.

ETA- I have family in Los Angeles, and they have a small chain of grocery stores in the area called Super King. It blew my mind when I went there the first time and saw their produce prices. They have to be the cheapest anywhere.

You do no want a Publix, they cost more. That is pretty much all we have in Florida.

I am willing to pay a lil more to shop there because no other grocery chain that I have ever shopped at comes close to Publix's meat and seafood depts.

Publix prices are not as bad if you live there and can catch the BOGO deals. They rotate on a nearly monthly basis and I would just stock up on that product for the month.

Also the chicken tender sub with the sub sauce. Easily better sandwiches than any other chain sub/ sandwich place.

HEB is overrated. I can't understand the infatuation. People in Houston go nuts for HEB but Kroger is cheaper and Randall's is more pleasant. HEB has a Walmart atmosphere most days Bc of the hordes.

Yup and if you don't need two of something you can just buy one at half price. Publix meat, produce, and beer selection keeps me coming back. That and all the hot moms that shop there . I'd rather pay a little more at Publix than shop at Winn Dixie, Walmart, and even Rouses to some extent (depends on what part of town its in).

The BOGO and shite on sale is the way to go. Otherwise you might as well go to Whole Foods because publix will frick you if you're not paying attention to their pricing.

Ehhh, should your wish be granted, just be sure you get a "real" Publix. Of the two closest ones to where I am staying in Atlanta (Sandy Springs), one is crammed into a too-tight strip shopping center, and the other is a weird, half-size layout -- often stocking the wrong half of goods.

Kroger is the best. Their food quality is same as Publix but their prices are 50%

No doubt Kroger is cheaper, it shows. Their stores are crap and attracts Dollar Store shoppers

We had Kroger here in the 80's. They all got bought out by Superfresh. And then Wal Mart killed Superfresh.

Kroger is better than publix in my town too. Don't really understand the appeal of publix. I find their selection poor and produce not particularly fresh. And they hire geriatric bag boys that bag worse than the teenagers at Kroger.

Believe it or not, the whole world doesn't make every decision in their life based on price. You have no idea how bad the average Walmart, Albertson, Winn-Dixie in shitty LA really is. Bring us a Publix dammit!

It would just get run down like the others.
