re: Why can't half of the posters on the OT use these simple words correctly?

Loose vs lose is the only one of those I see regularly.
My pet peeve is starting a thread with the word "so", as in "So my friend and I went to a bar." or "So my car broke down." You don't need the word "so" in these instances. It does nothing to change the meaning.

would of v would have
could of v could have
And the list goes on...
Also, the "dominate" thing is infuriating. I'd never seen it before I came to this site.

You're the poster who uses emoticons approximately 75% of the time?

Don't care, but the OT is better with spelling and grammar than almost all of the internet. You should venture out of your technohoood sometimes.

People saying " would of/should of/ could of" instead of "have" is my pet peeve.

I would say its probably more to do with phones correcting words than the people

I don't think so, Tim.

Phones don't correct words that are spelled correctly, at least mine doesn't.

What are some other ones and does anyone know why this is so hard for people?
i always mess up "laying" vs "lying" and what's worse is I know i'm using it incorrectly but still do it.

I use them way less than that but even if I did why would that matter? I can still spell.
