A rating system that puts a higher value on features than powertrain reliability on a reliability test is what's ignorant.

LOLWUT

Look at the description for overall dependability then realize the F150 got 5 stars, the Tundra 4.

Is that the be all end all of discussion ? No. But it is quite ignorant to claim that The Tundra is far superior to the F150 in terms of reliability.

The fact of the matter is that since oh 2010 or so at least, you can buy any new vehicle of your choice and be assured that it is going to be a damned good vehicle that will be reliable and relatively trouble free for 150-200K miles. From the cheapest Kia to the most expensive Mercedes to the F150 to the Tundra. Doesnt matter.

It's purely a matter of personal preference aside from that.

My former work truck was an F150 XLT and it had 226,000 miles on it when they got me a new one. Still ran like a top. My work truck before that was a Silverado with over 300,000.

Yes the F150 got 5 stars despite only scoring three for it's powertrain reliability compared to 5 stars by the Tundra. The f150 overcame the poor showing by their powertrain by having higher ranked features than the Tundra. I give zero creed to a ranking system that gives features a higher weight than the actual powertrain.

That's fine, I'll take the 5.0 F150 with the additional features and equal dependability to the Tundra. You act like you're forced to get the Ecoboost with the F150.

Too much truth.

Can one of yall explain to me what makes the Tundra so "outdated"?

I haven't been in the new market for a long time and probably will soon.

The features, efficiency, design.

You'll see. It may not matter to you, and that's fine, but Toyota is supposedly going to be playing catch up with the 2019.

Because it's an outdated design. Pretty much every other truck is much nicer and fresher, and get much better mileage in some cases. The only thing the Tundra has going for it is it's Toyota label.

Yeah I don't see anything wrong with the 5.0 V8 in the F150. That's what I'd prefer. I don't trust the turbos.

Where did I say that?

I think the 5.0L by Ford looks to be like the most dependable gas engine by a US manufacturer in the last 7-8 years. I just personally would like to see a little more time and mileage before I would put it with the Toyota 4.0, 4.7, or 5.7 that have over a decade of proof to their reliability.

Do you mean the Ford F150 that recently beat out the Toyota Tundra for JD Power & Asssociates 2017 vehicle dependability?

How ignorant.

The rating system is skewed in favor on an electronic window motor failure over drivetrain failure.

Look at the powertrain dependability of Ford vs Toyota.

Dat Ecoboost tho...

Any downtime is bad IMO.

So I've read in here, but I'm asking specifics. Are we talking mostly cosmetics and creature comforts or actual HP/torque to MPG efficiency?

I'll give you a reason. Inventory.

Go on a Ford lot and you will see 400 different trucks in every color option and style configuration you can think of. A little web research of the 2 closest Ford dealers and 2 closest Toyota dealers to me.

Ford Dealer 78/88 number of F150s in stock
Toyota Dealer 12/24 Tundras in stock

With those inventory numbers what are the chances you will find the exact Ford you want at the price point you want compared to the Tundras? Because of the low inventory on the lot you don't seem to get much wiggle room on the price at Toyota dealers. Go to a Ford dealer and they will throw everything including the kitchen sink at you to get you to buy their truck. Those those folks going between the various car dealers looking for a truck not really set on one brand or another the price and selection can be a really big deal. You almost have to go out of your way to get a tundra speced out exactly like you want unless you get lucky.

Take a look at the interior. The electronics look they were modeled after a jitterbug cell phone and there is an abundance of shitty plastic.

Your internet clearly is functioning, google a comparison test. There are many of them.

Or I could ask someone on the internet who made the statement themselves? It's a simple question.

I'll take the 5 star powertrain warranty over the 3 star all day. It may not matter to you, but it does to me.

(P.S. the only reason I ever come to these threads is to see your unabashed love for Ford and your effort to downplay Toyota. It's like Darth to a motorcycle club thread. )

Pretty comical considering the Tundra has everything you listed except the power running boards, even a Platinum trim.

Wasn't really saying I preferred the tundra. Doesnt really matter to me what brand.
